I love the World Cup- as a teacher I teach summer school every year- with the exception of every four years. I love the games, the fans everything about the World Cup- and I have toask why the hell did FIFA expand to 32 teams! I know the reason FIFA gives is to allow more teams from Africa and Asia participate- but let's be honest what have these regions done to deserve more spots in the biggest tournament in the World? I know that every four years a team out of these regions makes a nice run in the WC- but let's be honest the end result is usually three and out. The same could also be said for CONCACAF.

WoW i really hate these arguments...Theres a european championship in 2008 if it's sooo hard to watch these other teams play. You don't have to watch the WORLD cup. I personally enjoy watching the teams from the continents with a little less pedigree play, and I also enjoy watching get better and more competitive with every WORLD cup. I dont care if it takes fifty years, there will eventually be a African winner of the world cup

if you dont want teams from africa/asia/concacaf and where ever minus europe and south america than don't watch the worldcup and stick w/ ur euro cup.

I fully support Africa getting 5 teams. Its a very competitive confederation. Im also fine with Asia's 4.5 slots. I like things just the way they are now.

Asian football is utter crap. Asian teams present in this competition are just there to help define World Cup.

africa should get more teams. 50 nations, 5 teams? no. Nigeria or Cameroun would be loads better than Poland or Serbia. Nigeria are missing the world cup even though they drew for #1 in their grouping, due to some random tiebreak rule.
They should expand Afrique to 7 possible slots. 5 guaranteed to the top 5 group winners, with a playoff against the bottom two also-rans of Europe for two more spots. That would be fun, make for some interesting football, and might open some eyes as well...
