I agree. Viera needs to be dropped in favor of trez or saha. At this point, I don't care which one.

The Swiss played very defensively and obviously they were targetting the 0-0. Swiss has a really good defence and midfield, however, they have no attack. Swiss succeeded to break the pace of the French team, that's how they got that draw. The Swiss strategy wasn't far from the Greek strategy during the Euro 2004 actually.

For the game against Korea, Malouda will be back and we will play at 9pm. I would really be desappointed if we don't win that game with a large margin. As it's been already told, if we don't win then we have nothing to do in this competition.

By the way, if we qualify for the 1/8 finals, we will play that game at 9pm, no matter if we end first or 2nd of the group. Same is true for the quarters, if we achieve to qualify for quarters, we will necessarily play at 9pm.

I realise I forgot the words 'press conference' which would have avoided any misinterpretetion.

let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater! there's finally a semblance of a system, play it 10 meters higher up the field and bob's your uncle.

malouda isn't any more the saviour of the team than ribéry, but at least it allows us to use ribéry as a joker on 60'-70'... for viera if that makes you happy ;) .

korea will by playing just as defensively as the swiss, since a nil keeps them at worst in 2nd place in the group, but as said by others, if we can't torch the koreans the players are better off in st. tropez.

i also mentioned the 21h start times as being important, but in any case the heat in europe seems to be subsiding this morning, which is still good news.

and with the difficulty die mannschaft had getting unstuck last night, i imagine the pitch watering henry and domenech are calling for will become a reality!

let's be honest, South korea is not a good even if they beat togo... as bad are les bleus, i'm convinced they will win vs south korea and togo, but for 1/8 final i'm not very optimistic

This isn't the Korea forum so this isn't my place, but let's just say that all you French supporters seem to be underestimating Korea. That's just fine with us. But do remember that France looked pretty tired in the second half while Korea looked pretty fast. Remember that Korea is a team built on stamina and match-fitness. They fight for 90 minutes every game. That doesn't give any of you cause for concern?

No.

If France loses it will be because they've beat themselves (which is entirerly possible!). But the thought of 11 tiny speedy Koreans running around like pinballs for 90 minutes doesn't really inspire me with any fear.

Argentina, Brazil, Holland, the Czech Republic and even England..... These are teams that scare me. Not South Korea.

well, i am concerned. as I said in the other forum - we should be confident, but Korea can easily make this very difficult for us and even, perhaps spring that dreaded surprise if we don't get our act together.

I think all the Korean fans know that this will be a david vs. goliath kind of fight. Our expectations are low but our hopes are high (IOW there aren't any Korean spazzos out there expecting a win) Good luck to both sides!

Sentez-vous aussi combien la France a déçu par rapport à d'autres équipes comme l'Espagne ou, globalement, les autres têtes de série. Elle a fait un peu de peine.
Je répète : Wait and see. Je connais des équipes qui ont marqué cinq ou six buts au premier match et qui ne se sont pas qualifiées. Ce qui compte, ce n'est pas l'euphorie, c'est de durer dans la compétition. C'est ce qu'on veut faire»

Uhh... No offence intended but..
Number One : The South Korean team isnt "tiny".... They may be compared to teams like Czech and Serbia and montenegro, but then again so is the french.
Number Two: Speed is something the ageing french team lacks, you should be at least a bit concerned. During the swiss game, your whole team seems to be tiring and slowing down, thats something the Koreans wont do, and is more then capable of scoring when your french defence is trying to catch there breath, not the attacker.
Number Three: Ever get hit with a pinball before? I have...and it hurts.

And lastly, the reason why they call it the beautiful game, is because anything can happen, anybody can win. I wont be that surprised if Togo defeat the swiss. The swiss have no offence, and togo are a wild team, they will do unexpected things that work out really well for them, while the Swiss are more then too predictable.

No offence? None taken.

1) France is a big team. With the exception of Vikash and Franck, the team is pretty big and physical. Between Vieira, Thuram, Gallas, Abidal, Sagnol, Henry, Trezeguet, there is no lack of size on this team. We made the Germans look like pinballs in our friendly earlier this year.

2) Yes we do lack speed, no question. I'm hoping that Henry, and Ribery can make up for Zidane and Vieira at this point. We are slow, point taken.

3) I've never been hit with a pinball, but don't doubt it hurts... ;)

Anything can happen in the World Cup? Absolutly! Is France assured of a victory? Not the way we've been playing. But trust me, if France loses on Sunday, it won't be because we were out talented by Korea. This team has become very good at beating itself over the last couple of years, and could certainly do it again.

Go position by position and find me 1 where Korea has the better player....

Yes. That I have to admit. But I do have to say Ji Sung Park would be in the same ball field, but that cant be said about the rest of our team. There is no doubt who is the better team here, but you also have to admit, Korea also plays much much better as underdogs. Also when 1 korea attacker gets a stride or a extra step on a French defender, (which i predict will happen) there will be problems in your back end, you cant deny that. On paper, this should be a easy match for France. But then again... On paper Sweden should run over T%T... On paper Brazil shouldve scored alot more goals on Croatia. On paper, Austrialia shouldnt have beaten Japan 3-1, it shouldve been a 1 goal game, etc.. etc...

Anyways I do think France has the upper hand on Korea, but surprises will happen.

May the best team win.

Average height for the Korean team is 6'. Hardly "tiny"

I get irritated when westerners reflect Chinese/Southeast Asians/Japanese height with Korea's height. Koreans are the tallest in Asia.

Anyway, so you think if France loses it's because they beat themselves? Come on now. It's more likely France will come out on top, but to say something disrespectful like that shows you need more perspective, chief.

May the better team win.

Cheers.

I second that. We need to prove ourselves to be able to be worthy for this tournament. Let's not defeat ourselves all over again. Anything short of a victory is a failure. A draw is irrelevant at this point!
