Here's a little game in which you predict your countries next world cup squad and if we're still around in 4 years we can hopefully save this thread somewhere and see how we all fared. My England squad would be:

Goalkeepers:
David James
Paul Robinson
Stuart Taylor

Defenders:
Danny Mills
John Terry
Rio Ferdinand
Ledley King
Sol Campbell
Ashley Cole
Gareth Barry

Midfielders:
David Beckham
Joe Cole
Steven Gerrard
Kevin Nolan
Kieron Dyer
Michael Carrick
Seth Johnson
Jermaine Pennant

Strikers:
Michael Owen
Jermaine Defoe
Alan Smith
Carlton Cole
Robbie Fowler

If Bruce is still around then I wouldn't know what to expect, but I would a least like to see:

GK's:
Zach Thornton
Nick Rimando
Tim Howard

Defenders:
Carlos Bocenegra
Eddie Pope
Jim Curtin
Tony Sanneh
Pablo Mastroeni
Mike Petke
Nick Garcia

Midfielders:
Kelly Gray
Run DMB (Beasley)
Landon Donavon
Frankie Hedjuk
Claudio Reyna (1 more time)
John O'Brian
Chris Klein

Forwards:
Ante Razov
Jason Kreis
Josh Wolff

(I know this probaly doesn't make up the whole squad but it's a start.)

elninho, or anyone else who knows

There was a Korean-American kid named Alex Yi, who is the same age as Onyewu, who played for UCLA and was supposed to go to Italy or something. He played for the U.S. youth squad, but whatever happened to him after the 2001 World Youth Championships?

Does he have a shot to make the national A team in 2006 or 2010?

Yi is in an interesting situation. He signed a pro contract with a Serie C/1 club, along with Nelson Akwari - but both were released within a week when the club president said he didn't want any foreigners playing for the club. Now he's in the mess of being ineligible to play for UCLA (because he was a pro for all of one week), while not having a club to play for.

Anyway, he's a possibility, but an outside shot at best. I can see him becoming a good MLS player, and even getting some senior caps, but I don't think he'll ever be a national team starter.

I forgot to mention Owen Hargreaves who i would probably have in place of Seth Johnson.

For the USA barring injuries, I think the following players are locks, the rest are not.

Landon, Mathis, Beasley, Mastroeni, Obrien, Pope..... The rest are too young and don't have enough international experience to be sure best or they are too old for 2006 and may choose to give up the international game.

Only a few weeks away now until the WC2006 squads are announced. Four years since i started this thread:eek: Thoughts from US fans on the squads that were predicted?
