If anyone in Heidelberg is checking BigSoccer (though why I am even doing it now is beyond me :lol) was just wondering if you knew of any wireless hotspots or good gather places to watch other matches. I had heard there was a public big screen site and a few bars in "downtown" but no specific directions. Any help would be great. Also have you seen any cigar shops? The Gelsenkirchen shop had a great selection. i wish I had grabbed a few more.

We were just in Heidleberg and at the Tourist office right outside the train station they had maps with little soccer balls to mark where games are being shown. Didn't seem to be any huge gatherings but we passed one outdoor big screen and watched Germany-Poland in a bar with 30-40 loud fans.

Pretty much every pub and cafe in the Oldtown has a screen where they show all the games. They even have plasma screens at clothing stores along the Hauptstrasse (main pedestrian only street through the oldtown).

There are a couple of small stores along the Hauptstrasse where you can buy cigars. One store that comes to my mind is not far from the Bismarckplatz on the left side when you are walking away from the Bismarckplatz deeper into the Old town. But you can also buy cigars in one if the two Kaufhof department stores.

The public viewing at the Halle 02 sucks because it's way to many people for that small tent they have there. (a friend of mine went there for the opening match and there were like 400 people and the tent holds only 100 or so)

The Marstall (one of the two University Cafeterias in the Old Town) shows all the games and there is also a WLAN hotspot. You get to the Marstall when your heading towards the river at the Sparkasse facing the university square. other WLAN hotspots are in the "Star Coffee" Cafe at the Hauptstrasse near the University square or in some other cafes (ie Starbucks).

btw.: yesterday before the Germany match I saw a guy wearing a red t-shirt that had altered Bundesliga batches on it and having USA written on it. what's up with that?

Those are the famous "Brucesliga" t-shirts created & sold by rickinva. http://bigsoccer.com/forum/member.php?u=19784 I posted elsewhere that nobody here 'got' them, but when I explain, the people think that they are great. I haven't met Rick yet, but he deserves a lot of credit for the effort expended on this, followed by the 'Viva Bruce' shirts from the Minnesota guys (I'm wearing one at the moment!).

Thanks for the info. I have some to provide as well. I think I watched Germany-Poland at the same place as you say. It's Zollhofgarten at GuteramtssraBe 2. However they must have made it bigger since your friend was there because the tent definately held a lot more when I was there and there are multiple big projection screens. There is one on the outside front of the tent. Then inside there is a big screen halfway and another on inside of the back of the tent. There are multiple vendors both outside the tent and some inside along the left side of the tent. Didn't have to wait long at all. I believe the bus stop is "Czernyring" where you want to get off. I took the 11 bus from where I am staying. The vieiwing location is to the southwest of the stop. About a minute walk. They are only showing the 6 and 9pm matches, unless Germany is playing.

If anyone is looking for a Deutsche Bank, as I know Bank of America customers are and should be, there is one at the Adenauerplatz stop that multiple trams and busses stop at. Where the bus/tram stops there is a different bank facing the stop. The Deutsche Bank is on the south side of that building. Just an FYI your card only works in the machines that look exactly like our ATMs.
