At least that's what an e-mail from ESPN told me.

The WNBA--for a guy...
Looking for a sport that has game, no millionaire-player disputes, and the best uniforms around? The WNBA is for you. Besides all that, it might be the only major sport around next summer, so jump on the bandwagon now and be cooler than your friends. Now, if we could only do something about the team nicknames... WNBA on ESPN

If the WNBA qualifies as a "major sport"...well I think the MLS should too :D

WNBA on ESPN

This is the key part to this email. ABC just signed a contract with WNBA (as a condition of getting the NBA I believe) and ALL of these games will be on ESPN (or more likely the Deuce).

They're desperate for viewers and sent out this email to try and convince you its acceptable to watch the WNBA. It's not. Any man who watches the WNBA has already been castrated and really isn't a man.

Now if MLS had a "big brother" organization that demanded they be part of their TV contract, you would see the same type of emails.

So don't worry about it. A basketball league where the players can't even dunk is not a major sport and the folks at ESPN realize this.

Though it is offensive that the WNBA is considered a "major sport" by ESPN's marketing robots, in spite of declining TV ratings and nose-diving attendance.

Sorry about that. Although I don't think it was that bad and within the context of what I posted.

Looking at the sports which are emerging today like the Arena Football League (AFL), Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the Major League Soccer (MLS), I would say that Major League Soccer has the best chance of becoming the next major professional sport behind Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL).

With latest crowds in the A-League, MLS fans better starter to worry about themeselves.
25,000 Seattle Sounders
Portland Timbers 6,500
Minnesota 7,000
Montreal 7,000
Rochester just under 10,000
Vancouver close to a selling out a small stadium I think the A-League its taken the advantage of the USA national team success better then the MLS.
I see some of the bigger owners pushing for a top A-League division in the near future.
Don't be surprise if the Tampa Bay Rowdies are back in 2003.

Arrgghhh is right. I don't believe in nitpicking or correcting typos, ect. But making this mistake over and over again is annoying.
