It took 2 days before they have had a public fall-out:

Van Persie: "[Robben] needs to take his team-mates into account.

"Sometimes he makes choices that are good for himself but not the team. We all need to realise that we are doing this together. We had several chances against Serbia but against the really big countries you maybe get one chance.

"In that situation you have to make the right choice. He cannot do it on his own"

Robben replied with the traditional 'fingers in my ears so I can't hear you' response, simply saying, "I'm sure he didn't mean anything nasty by his comments."

He's basically right. There were a few occasions where it opened up for him to play the pass and he kept it. I thought he looked very good, better than he has in the Prem for ages, but not the best team player in the first game. RvP hardly touched the ball in the first 1/2 hour, because the ball always went to Robben, so I can imagine he was frustrated.

He was completely right i mean RvP barely touched the ball and horse face barely even touched the ball it was like I was watching a 3rd grader hog the ball from the rest of his teamates

Whether he's right or not he shouldn't have gone public about it. It should be discussed with the coach and the rest of the team. If he thinks he doesn't get the ball enough playing for Arsenal would you be happy if he went to the papers about it?

Spot on. Van Persie's comments were accurate.....doesn't mean he should've shared them outside the training ground.

ok i will have to stick up for robben. there were many times robben put up crosses to the far post and many times that rvp wasnt there.

Adu didn't make the squad.;)

And Robben was a ball hog, but as pointed out, this is an internal issue. Maybe it is the latest in spats between the two and he finally went public. Either way though, it shouldn't have been handled that way.

I'm not saying Robben shouldn't have spread the love, but what do you expect when literally every attacking move is going through him? When the right back is constantly taking pains to find him on the left wing you start to think that either that's the game plan or the players don't trust RVN or RVP as much.

It wouldn't be a World Cup without the Dutch fighting amongst themselves.

omigod the Dutch are imploding!!!

get real, stop listening to the media morons

this is the most united Dutch team ever, and the fact is that there has not been a real blow-up at a Dutch team since 1996

The Dutch aren't imploding nearly as bad as the Swedes.

If Zlatan is appearing as the peace maker between Freddie and Mellberg, we have a problem.

hahaha so true, poor Zlatan :p

Back to Persie, of course he's right. Robben is a great player, no doubt. But
he's still a ball hogging selfish, dirty, diving, little prick. So you can put the
two things on a scale and pick one

As much as i hate giving credit to a Chelski player, Robben is a good one, albeit a selfish one. His primary motive in the game seemed to be to outshine both RVN and RVP......and the fact that the movement constantly tended to be from Gio seemed to help Robben. Funny though that their goal came from the right side - Heitinga to RVP to Robben in the centre....

However, RVP should have kept it internal.....

Wow, you can read minds? That must come in handy

Yeah, he ballhogged a bit but lay a large part of the blame for that on RVN and RVP not getting themselves open

What I don't get is that you make out you defend Robben because he's one of your team etc. So why is it ok to insult van Persie and van Nistelrooy? "They didn't get themselves open". Bull. Robben should take the criticism and move on. It's something he has always done, so don't turn this into something about someone else.

The vital word that you missed was 'seemed'. The inclusion of this word shows that RobC is making a guess, or an assumption from the evidence gleaned. It doesn't mean he has read his mind. Robben had several oppurtunities to pass the ball to a player in space and didn't.
