View Full Version : Change style to deal with the Heat?

Sort of related to the midfield question but worth it's own thread I thought.

Do you think that England need someone that knows how to change the tempo of a match, to suit the game and more importantly here, the conditions?

Against Paraguay it was 90F outside the stadium which typically means that it was probably about 105F down on the pitch. Now if you've been to Paraguay, you will know that while it is in South America, it is high-up and while sunny it is not particularly hot. You could see as England began to walk it up the pitch (at about 35min) Paraguay looked sapped, absolutely shattered. I thought oh good, they're learning, pass it around at the back a bit, make them chase us in the heat, let our forwards rest and let the DM boss the show.

But first pass to Gerrard and he's off with it going forward to force the issue. Lampard did the same.

Is this just completely foreign thinking to English players? I've watched some midday La Liga games and they seem to spend half the game conserving energy this way.

Do you think England would be able to play this way? I can see Requelme being smart enough to do this and being able to as well.

Someone close this thread please. It's just a continuation of the absurd lack of insight that drives all of this muppet's threads on England.

England did control the tempo of the match, even allowing for the fact that both Gerrard and Lampard were told to have a range at them whenever they could.

Another

You really are the king of facile nonsense.

Were you in any way, shape or form equipped with the facilities to understand the game a bit better, you would shut up.

England didn't control anything about the match, they were on the ropes. Unless we learn to pass the ball we're not going anywhere in this competition.

HAHAHAHA! My God, I'm even writing your posts (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=8712980) for you now?

You really are prepared to debase yourself to quite appalling levels just to squeeze one more post out of your time left on this board, eh?

Lamest. Troll. Ever.

Interesting to note that if we win the group, every game (other than the final) after that, kicks-off at 8.00 o'clock, so forget the heat, forget adapting, we freely admit, we are one-dimensionally, fcukin awesome..............:)

It's comin home.......
