Guys-
As of March 1st, Comcast is my new cable provider (I guess they took over all AT&T's business). Seems to me I've read that, as far as soccer, Comcast rots. If anybody has had them, did they have FSW and EPL PPV? Or do I need to get a dish?
Thanks

I'm sure you would get better informed responses in the Business and Media forum where this belongs.
First of all, do you already have those channels from your AT&T service? If so, you have a good chance to retain them, at least in the short run. If you didn't have them, good luck. Either way, let them know that you want those channels, and don't be afraid to use the word "satellite" when speaking with them.

Coach,
I've had Comcrap the whole time I've had digital cable. When they first introduced it, Fox Sports World was one of their selling points, and I ran out to get a box the first day they were available. Flash forward two years, and FSW was no longer part of the package. Sure, I've now got 34 PPV channels, 12 HBOs and 8 Skinimaxes, but not the only channel I really want.
I've emailed, called, written letters, and the only response that I've gotten is that the decision to drop FSW from the list of channels offered was based on the fact that it was in direct competition with a channel that Comcrap had just purchased, namely the Outdoor Life Network.
What a load of bollocks. Last time I checked, OLN wasn't showing the the Guatamalan league, let alone the EPL!
Given my current living situation, I am forced to keep Comcrap, despite a burning desire to switch to the dish (my apt complex will not allow dishes.) However, as soon as I move, getting DirecTV will be my first order of business.
I hate to be the harbinger of doom, but your days of FSW on cable are numbered. Walk, nay, run to your nearest Radio Snack (to me the "h" always looked like an "n") and arrange to have DirecTV installed!
May the Arse be with you!

I'm in the same boat. I only recently upgraded to digital cable and finally got FSW, and now find that AT&T is being replaced by Comcast. I may be moving soon, though, so hopefully there will be no changes before that point, and I can get DirecTV in my new place.

Add me to the list of disgruntled Comcast subscribers. Not only did they take off FSW, but they do not carry MLS Shootout once college football begins. THAT IS WHY I HAD DIRECTV INSTALLED THIS WEEK.

A federal law was passed last year that makes it illegal for an apartment complex or condo complex to ban dishes. You can legally get a dish and the apartment complex must let you have it. We had the same issue at my condo complex, and now the old bitties that run the association are all cheesed off about the new dishes on peoples' balconies, and their inability to do anything about it. Luckily, my cable provider does carry FSW, but if they dropped it, I'd get a dish in a heartbeat.

too true regarding apt complex's saying you can't 'ave a satellite... a law was passed and they are under law to allow a satellite dish... besides m8, direct tv will absolutely blow away that digi-cable or dish network.... also, i recommend getting the "Card"... it is BRILLIANT!!! i get all the PPV games every week AND every channel that direct tv allows!! its fantastic.. i recommend everyone to check out the sites that allow you to purchase a HU CARD!!
my 2 cents

Thanks to everyone for the heads up about the law. I checked it out, and it only includes balconies, patios, etc. - basically things that are exclusively mine to use in the rental agreement. I don't have any of those things, so I'd be stuck with having it mounted to the roof, which I don't think they'll do.
However, I think I'll check again, as there is a new office manager, and maybe she can speak to the ownership. Hell, I've been in this complex for 4 years - I even stayed after a mini-van drove through the window of the ground floor unit I was in! (I've since moved across the parking lot to a 2nd floor unit) Damn thing made me miss the FA Cup Semi against the Scum back in 2001. Thankfully my cousins taped it for me, so I was able to see Super Rob's goal.

Awesome match, the FA Cup Semi. My parents refuse to pay for the installation of a dish and therefore allowing me to watch the EPL. Now I have to rely on ArseAm presidents to tape the matches and send them to me (Rick, I'd like to place an early request for the 15 April match. Thanks!). There's no decent places around that let in people under 21, so I'm screwed there. But that's why I love Dan. He is God on Earth, as far as my Arsenal deprived life is concerned. Good stuff, dwink.
Vive le AFC!

I've got Comcast Sports Network with my cable and on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. they show a EPL game. However its old, but usually old enough that you forget the result when watching.
