what needs adjustment? what is a 4-2-3-1 exactly? it's either a cute way of not saying 4-5-1, or it's a 4-3-3. yesterday we saw more of a 4-5-0-1! the block needs to move a little higher. everyone's saying there was no mobility, but in fact the mobility was there, it just started too low. imagine the game if sagnol's passes had come from 10 meters farther up the field!

well, it's a better way of saying a 4-5-1 that uses both wingers and an attacking midfield in support. In attack to formation should be 4 men in attack (ribery, henry, wiltord, zidane).
but i'm in complete accord with pushing up, we had the control but weren't properly positioned to do anything with it.

i wouldn't mind if this tactic was used again against SK, but of course a couple changes are in order. Dropping patty, albeit his comment about a good EDF, isn't the way to go, and with the return of malouda (knock on wood!) we'll see more activity on the left channel.

i should think that that's obvious. you realize that the numbers are ordered according to each line's primary position on the field, correct? offensive-minded midfielders can be distinguished from their defensive counterparts just as forwards can be distinguished from defenders. 3232 is my favorite formation by the way and i'd like to see France try it. it's a very aggressive attacking formation with natural triangles and France has one world-class defensive midfielder and a solid defensive line. you need to get as many attacking playes on the field at the same time as you can given your goalscoring troubles so this formation would kick ass. Domenech doesn't have the stones, though.

Besides the 'handball' in the penalty box, there was also a player (Degen ?) who headbutted Zidane, yet I'm not sure it was intentional.

If you want the best out of henry. You gotta play him with saha.I mean how can the coaches not pick that.Saha played one game with henry in euro 2004 against switz and henry scored 2 and played the best game for him in the tourney. And in the friendly game , henry played really good with saha.they should really start.

About ribery , I think he was soo eager to impress. He was nervous .I think the hype got to him too much.I was disspointed with his performance , but I think he'll earn his psot back.( I believe he difinetly wouldn't be starting sunday).

For next game iwould prefer same def. with

-----------------------------------makele------------------------------
------wiltord-----------------------------------------------malouda----
-----------------------------------zidane----------------------------
-----------------henry-----------------------------------saha---------

Domenech doesn't have the stones, though.what i said about 4-5-1, 4-3-3 etc, was just to show that the numbering doesn't say it all. 4-5-1 is commonly decried as a very dull and cautious system. yet you see OL's system being called exactly that! the same goes for players' positions sometimes. on the OL roster govou is a midfielder and malouda is a striker, and on the EdF malouda is a midfielder and govou is a striker (unless it's the other other way around  )

as for a 3 man backfield, that can be deceiving too. when you do a topography of where abidal and RVR spend their time on the field, and compare it to the physionomy of the rare 3 man backfields one sees, it's clear that 4 backs can be more attack minded than 3.

pretty much says what we know. I agree with him about Vieira - he will be important for us in the future.
