These games with Switzerland are getting on me tits.

Yet again they played for the draw on the counter and France were so utterly hopeless under Ray they couldn't break them down.

Fcuk Domenech.

On this match, it's rather the players' fault. Everybody agreed with Ray's formation. Well, except I would have prefered Henry on the left and Trez as lone striker.

3 mins of extra time, freekick in a dangerous position for the Swiss, nothing comes of it and then he blows the whistle. FCUK!! This is one of the most frustrating games I've seen since Real Madrid last season.

Raymondo's subs sucked big time today.

Is it me or Vieira failed at exactly everything he tried today ?

ganu is right however, his subs were horrendously awful. In that respect, he's at fault (and also for not [i can't help but throw this in] giving us the option of giuly or pires).

Lacklustre, couldn't create great chances, can't finish *cough* Henry *cough*. Yep, sounds pretty much consistent with what we've come to expect. I really started to hope about an hour before the match that everything would come together, but clearly it hasn't.

Oh, and ribery should remain a sub.

*you know what, that said I think it'll only get better from here. (i.e. we can get two wins) Stay positive, stay positive, stay positive...

I agree with this assessment however I would not say Henry can't finish. The midfield is not fluid enough with the passes. We are so slow with passing the balls everytime Henry had the ball he had 3 defenders on him. We need to speed up the passing and become more fluid! We need more chemistry!

I didnt like Henry as the lone forward up front. I would love to have seen Saha or Trezeguet strart with him and have Ribery sacrificed.

well, we can't speed up if our main midfield creator is slower than Riquelme's grandmother. ;)

Yea, henry was under pressure, but some of those shots he took were just shameful. Either he had a chance to lay it off, or at least hit a better one and make the keeper do some work. Saha's sub wasn't bad, he ran into the same problems (i.e. 7+ swiss) but he chested it down nicely for dhorasoo, which is what i like to see - more creativity in the 6 yard book.

W/ all the critiques about our attack, remember that the swiss played a really closed game, any team would've had a hard time breaking it down and in our case, it only compounded to our existing problems.

Remember Denmark. The Saha-Henry partnership seems to work and prevent the opponents' defense to focus on just one offensive solution. I repeat it : Ray had two chances to select Anelka whose collaboration with Henry was what we needed to get more scoring chances. I like Nico but that's ultimately not the only reason why I considered it was a major error not to select him. Anyway, I'm just another NT manager wannabe...

One single striker is not enough. At this level, any defense can blockade a lone guy.

Miserable effort.

Is Henry the same guy that plays for Arsenal in London? Or do we have some guy playing in the German second division?

Wiltord. I love you for everything you did at Euro2000 but you were rubbish today.

Zidane- Are you as old as you look out there my friend? Please get a second wind, pronto.

Vieira- Absolute garbage. He's done, and doesn't deserve to be on the pitch. I was upset that Ribery was pulled for Saha and not the logical choice Vieira.

Barthez- Has he always been this slow of his freaking line? He played scared today, and was twice lucky to not pull a ball out of his net.

Bright spots-

Maka- Finally looked like he got stuck in and was the destroyer we've needed in the midfield.

Sagnol- Workhorse on that right flank. Almost showed..... Passion at times.

Ribery- You can say what you want, he was far more dynamic on the left then Wiltord on the right. You'd see him pop up on the right, middle, left, and gasp.... In support of Henry from time to time.

Saha- He needs to start. Vieira needs to get yanked out of this because he's the sparkplug we need at this point.

Anyways, predictible result. I was upset to see French players like Henry smiling after the game as if they were pleased with the result. Come on now. I'm sure Domenech is explaining how well things went as we speak....

I imagine that you are directly translating "mauvaise foi?"

:D

Oh well.... I think it's impossible to not advance if we draw two games and win 1. that isn't too bad I guess.

We played far too defensively. Arsène Wenger said this more than once during commentary. My suggestion : we scrap a defensive midfielder (Patrick Vieira easily comes to mind), and we add another striker.

Did Wenger make any comments about the strikers/formation specifically? Anything about Trez?

and any highlights from him?
