Paraguay let me congratulate. You'll win the game. We have about 1 % chance.

I'm pretty sure we will have a better game than this one, and I expect the same from sweeden , this is a key game to see who's the second team coming out of this group. For Paraguay I expect Ruiz to seat Santacruz out since he's hurt and basically Paraguay played with one guy less , I think I heard his name once the whole game, also I expect him to play Julio Dos Santos , he is a guy that can control the middle for us, missing him today basically limited us to rely on those useless long balls, anyways I hope we have a good game and we can get some points.

paraguay's sub goalkeeper got nice. now the rest of the team just have to follow suit......

this could decide the group...paraguay will prob play better, since a draw prob wont b good enough in this one. Cuevas and Dos Santos need to play the entire game. Why was it Togo's coach that quit, and not that conservative fool that we have for a coach?

 Well, this just turned into a must-win game for Sweden... (But then again, wasn't it before?)

Sweden't basic play wasn't too bad against T&T - except for the finishing. (Even though our press makes it sound like we lost) And even if Isaksson can't make it, Shabaan was a good replacement. We created lots of chances in the game - but against Paraguay we simply must put them in the net!

Maybe I'm in denial... :D but I think we still have a good shot to proceed in the tournament, much of it thanks to us being at 1 pt and Paraguay at 0 pts.

But we must ... SCORE!

this is the key match in group B. Paraguay needs to make some changes, in the midfield especially. I would love to see Barreto and Dos Santos play instead of Riveros and Acuna

Desperation match for both squads. A Sweden win knocks Paraguay out (just about). But a tie for Paraguay could easily be doom for Sweden. Should be interesting.

For Sweden:

- A tie would requre Sweden to beat England to move on to the 2nd round. (but we would control our own destiny)
- A loss, and advancement is still theoretically possible - but Sweden again has to beat England and also pray for the right result in Paraguay-T&T. (Go T&T)
- A win, and we would be sitting pretty. A tie against England would pretty much guarantee 2nd round, and a win against England would give us 1st place. We could even lose against England and still move on if we get the right results in the Paraguay-T&T. (but now we would be hoping for a Paraguay win)

For Paraguay:

- A tie could only lead to 2nd round if England defeats Sweden and Paraguay defeats T&T.
- A win, and victory against T&T would seal 2nd round. A Tie against T&T might also be enough if Sweden loses against England.
- A loss, and I don't see any possibility of a 2nd round. Two losses = out.

Note, all this assumes that England beats T&T... If not, things could get interesting... :D

I"m pretty sure that this game will decide who advances to the next round. As "good" as T&T played today, this team is terrible I seen them get spanked by Guatemala once it was 3-0 by the time I had to change the channel, so I think this was a fluke and after getting destroyed by England (who is under pressure to perform better) I think paraguay will be able to get 3 points out of them, so I think this is a must win for both teams, because I'm pretty sure Sweeden won't want leave it up to the England game , and England also has an extra incentive in that not being able to beat sweeden for 30 years crap.

Why would they? T&T can play for a tie with Paraguay. There is no tomorrow for both of them. Paraguay should put in the best men they have, not the best name they have. Everybody should be able to run, attack and defend. Paraguay lost a sub spot too early, while playing the full game with 10 man. England wanted 3 points, not to give Paraguay a lesson.
Yesterday's game might be one of those time that a team that lost a game also won. I wish it was a healthy England, Rooney included, against a healthy Paraguay, (at this temperature :D )

because paraguay(Nicolás Ledesma) just commented that they can play for a draw while sweden must win. It was in the swedish papers today.

I doubt it , I think that even though we lost, it was a confindence booster for us then you add the T&t tie , I think paraguay will go with a more offensive minded team.

It's a must win game for both teams, which should make it very very interesting. I'm going for a draw though (scoring one :))

It would be absolutely idiotic of Paraguay to play for a draw (although it would not be a catastrophic result)... That would make them dependent on the result of the England-Sweden game. (far from a foregone conclusion, especially with an England most likely qualified for the 2nd round by that time)

A Paraguay win, however, will put them in the drivers seat for the 3rd games, they could even win the group.

Exactly, if England defeats T&T they will already be the guaranteed winners of the group. The game against Sweden will mean nothing to them; they will play their reserve players to get them some playing time.

This will be a tense affair. I think Paraguay knows that as long as they dont lose, they will make it very tough on Sweden, so I dont expect them to be that adventurous. Sweden on the other hand will press hard for a win, I dont think they want to face a must win vs. England. Id expect Sweden to press Paraguay hard, and Paraguay to look to catch them napping. I think Sweden salvages it though, 1-0.

Yo! Cthulu can kiss my fuzzy butt! ;)

I think you're right though. Sweden will play for the win. If Paraguay are stupid enough to play for the tie, they deserve to lose and go home. They were too conservative against Enguland. They didn't show any offense until the 91'. If they had played like that all match, they might have scored a goal or two. Of course, they might have given up another one too.

Basically, my feeling is that if you make it to the cup, you should take the attitude that you can beat every team you face and put out your best squad and try to score. Playing for a draw or narrow loss is spineless.

I'm really disappointed in Paraguay. It seems that they don't hate Enguland as much as I do.
