I'm just curious since many of the posters on this forum are Americans. This question is more aimed at the English Gooners. I think it is safe to say that many American Gooners on here are big supporters of ENGLAND (including me), but do our fellow English Gooners across The Pond support the USA???

No way do I support England. I only support the US and on a smaller scale want Wales to do well since I'm half-Welsh. I don't hate England, but I don't care how well they do.

I'm not English or American, but I am supporting the US. To the chagrin of just about everyone I know.

I used to, but then I found out I had Scottish blood. So NO WAY I can ever support England!

As a Canadian, I have to find other teams to root for. Since I'm also an American citizen, I really want to see the US do well. It would do wonders for the game in North America. I'm hoping that it would translate into developping the game here. Plus, everyone badmouths the US, so I'd like to see them do well so that I can say I supported them from the beginning...haha

If the truth be told, most English hate Americans and hate their "soccer" team and are the but of many jokes and Budweiser ads'.
Personally I couldn't give a rats ass how America does, but I think they have a good team.

The feeling's pretty mutual. I just wish I was in the UK to watch all the carnage unfold.
I'd love to take pictures of a large car park, note how many car flags there are, and then take pictures of the same car park the day after England are knocked out in the quarterfinals.

I don't dislike the English...there just aren't that many tourists to deal with here in DC/Baltimore. ;)

83% of Welsh people are supporting England? Bollocks to that.
The BBC probably polled elderly women .

Yep. At best apathy reigns, at worst the public are eagerly rooting for England to be knocked out.
I'm more apathetic really (I reserve my bile spitting hatred for England rugby) but if the English public continues to treat US football with disdain then I'll switch to the at worst category...

not a gooner but want to see the USA do well. reason a lot of english don't support the US team is because obviously the game is not taken seriously by many (not all but many) Americans. Also wankers like Landon Donovan who won't prove their worth in Europe don't help the US image. However, the US needs to do well to help promote the sport. However, football will not get big in the USA until ABC or ESPN or any othe sport network grow some bollocks and show LIVE Premiership matches so people with cable can see football and not have to buy satelite to see matches.

There's plenty of live matches. Especially in the US. I'm in canada, and I had
prem matches every weekend. They show 3 live ones, then 1 on sunday.
Anyways, they get plenty of their own matches, so if MLS and USL can't get
them the least bit interested, nothing can. Interest is growing though, slowly
but surely. I just hope that one day it won't be called soccer anymore :p
Back to the topic, no for both, england nor US. Hope Theo gets in a few good
games to be ready for the season, but that's pretty much it.

Why should a foreign league be shown on free to air television?
The Premiership isn't even on broadcast television in Britain, and I strongly doubt the Premiership is on broadcast TV in very many countries, if anywhere.
I'm much more concerned about MLS being on broadcast television.

I don't think MLS really helps the soccer case in America. It's too slow, too boring and god, the announcers are awful!
I would like to see the US do well as it will help the image in America.
As you know Catfish, it's all about Sweden here....even though I'm still gutted after today! :(

If that's true why is half of England's population in Florida every summer? :D
I would be totally disinterested in how the US team does except for wanting them to do well for my friends and family who follow them.

I will be supporting the USA during their to which I will be attending 2.
I have many friends there, will be living there soon, so why not.
England will obviously be first, but I would choose the USA ahead of a lot of other teams.
(P.S.). Q: What do you call a Scotsman at a World Cup? A: A referee! :)
