As I've been waiting for Cream to re-unite for one last gig, I gotta feeling Clapton, Bruce and Baker aren't going to get around to it. So I guess I'll hold out for Grand Funk Railroad.

Who are you waiting for?

Actually, the one I wanted the most already happened.

Orchestra Baobab

I wouldn't mind seeing the Talking Heads get back together though.

Absolutely, especially since in my opinion Marr's solo effort is a little sub-par.

Maybe a complete Echo and the Bunnymen also.

Talking Heads here, without a doubt. With horns.

Talking Heads, to see Weymouth actually stab Byrne on stage.

Also:

10,000 Maniacs (orginial lineup)
Tribe Called Quest (supposedly in the works...we'll see)

and a TV one: The Ben Stiller Show

As someone born in the mid-70s, I came to the Talking Heads pretty late (didn't get into them until the mid-90s.) What is the bad blood between those two?

Couldn't any of them kill him? Why just Tina?

Sadly, impossible (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1435370/12202000/10,000_maniacs.jhtml). And IMO Buck was almost as important to that band as Merchant was.

The bad blood stems from Bryne being an unsufferable prick and Weymouth being an uptight, bullheaded bitch. Or thereabouts.

It's tough to explain, and there isn't really one watershed moment. I'd say you should read "This Must Be the Place" by David Bowman. But they didn't like each other practically from the band's beginning.

I agree completely. Merchant was the tool and Buck was the wielder.

Re: the Heads - Any of them could, but Tina was the mouthpiece. She wore the pants in the Weymouth-Frantz relationship, and Harrison was more of a peace-maker.

Re: The Maniacs - I know. And I'd put Buck on equal footing with Merchant. His ringing guitar work went so unnoticed, mainly because as the band grew up they criminally underused his skill.

Amen to that. Don't get me wrong, I think the world of the guy as a musician. But I wouldn't have a beer with him.

I saw the Kinks in DC many years ago (mid 80's?) and towards the end of their set, the bass players walk over towards the drummer in the middle of a song and hocks a loogee at him. They finish the song, walk off stage and have a nice punch out. They came back, did about a five minute encore and split. I think that was their last tour ever.
