Rangers have been ordered to make a public announcement at all of their home games prohibiting the chanting of the song "Billy Boys". The instruction comes from Uefa as one of a number of directives aimed at stamping out sectarianism.

The only Sectarian thing about it is putting the word f****n.
We could sing, up to our knee's in Celtic Blood, and it wouldn't be offensive? Like Hearts sing both versions.

And another thing, do you think Celtic will be told to stop singing the Fields of Athenrie?
*I know its not sectarian when sung properly, but the Celtic version usually is.*

Please god spare us, the fields of athenry is about as sectarian as the soldiers song which in turn is about as sectarian as flower o scotland.

Anyone else get un-f****ng believably tired of these discussions? It's on the order of an "I know you are but what am I" style argument.
Annoying.

Well said. Although that is how most arguments between old firm fans turn out. Add into the mix non old firm fans and it is a recipe for boredom.

For me at least, unless youre dealing with a right bigot, non old firm fans are the worst of the bunch, chip on their shoulders a mile wide usually, claiming anytime you open your mouth its sectarian and your a blight on their game.

A bit of a generalisation but Aberdeen fans are by far and away the worst for that.

what's odd about Aberdeen fans that they are mostly prods but still hate Rangers more than Celtic
when i've started to follow Rangers Aberdeen were their biggest silverware challengers so maybe it came from there

Heard it quite clearly being belted out after the first goal against motherwell btw, so if uefa or fifa stick to their guns and enforce their rules isnt that a 3 point deduction?
How funny would that be?

so you think a song about a gang that went about glasgow cutting up catholics with razors is ok? bit of banter?
uefa certainly dont (i believe it was a three strike deal with relegation the third), most decent rangers supporters dont, youre making yourself look stupid.

I’m beginning to wish that UEFA had hammered us last season so that some dumb f3cks would get the message. As far as I’m concerned these people are not real Rangers fans. Does not matter what they think. It’s what UEFA think.

Good point about the song. Do we change the words? Other clubs have adopted the song! Now that would be a hard one to police!
