Hmmm....looks like Werder and Hamburg are at least gonna make Bayern sweat. :)

Werder are my early tip to win the title.

Remember, no one has ever won four BL titles in a row........

Yea, but I'm concerned that there is a huge dropoff between the top 3 and teams like Bayer, Scheisse, Hertha, BVB and then another big drop off with the rest of the clubs...

Well actually thats kinda like every league. :-/

Pretty much. And I think you forgot Stuttgart on that list.......

I'd actually put them ahead of your boys. I think you guys are in for one turbulent season...

Then again, so are they.

I think you guys will have a bit of trouble too.

Well its already been a turbulent season for us. We will be without Marcelinho. Will Marko Pantelic be our striker of choice? Who's going to partner him? Many questions for us. :(

At first as the team learns to play with one another, yes, I think so. Beginning the season at FC Bayern doesn't help matters either. However, I know after that, we'll be right in the thick of things.

We would have been last season if we could have avoided some of the knee injuries.

I hope they don't try to put Tinga right in the starting lineup whenever he arrives, but I think a lot of that will depend on how Kringe is playing.

I posted about Marcelinho on the BVB list last week. What a twat. I'm really sorry about that because I like his game, but right now, he's being a serious twat. Much like Amoroso was when he left us.

What's the latest on "Three Card Josi"??

Simunic has signed a 5 year contract. So he'll be here. Hopefully he'll be fit to play FC Moscow in the Intertoto Cup (unbelievable 6 days away!!! :) ).

Marcelinho has done nothing so far....he should be sacked. If he doesn't show up in a week, he won't be paid by Hertha...for the ENTIRE season. If we can get someone to pay >2 million for him, then I say let them have him.

This is exactly why I didn't want BVB to win the FairPlay Award. We would have already been "active" in the UEFA Cup qualifiers with most of our team at the World Cup!

A couple of years ago, I would have loved BVB to get him. That's what I was calling for. To sell Rosicky to Real Madrid back when they wanted him and were still paying ridiculous fees for players and taking that money and buying Marcelinho from you guys.

One of my crazier ideas, but I was passionate about it back then........

I hope that deal (Buckley to Everton) goes through.

Yeah, that's what I said in the Bundesliga Transfer thread too.....

Foreign Stars Snub The Bundesliga (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=afp-fblgertransfers&prov=afp&type=lgns)

The article says we may have gotten one of the "deals of the summer" when we got Frei! :D

The below paragraph is from an article posted to our e-mail list. It suggests that FC Zurich are interested in Ebi Smolarek.

Of course, this would not be a "big money" deal, but if we can get more for Smolarek than we paid for him, I think we should make this move.

Zum Beispiel Ebi Smolarek (25): Der polnische Internationale ist in Dortmund nur noch zweite Wahl und käme gerne zum FCZ. Allerdings würde der Stürmer das FCZ-Budget wohl sprengen.

I believe it says:

In play is 25 year-old Ebi Smolarek. The Polish international is now second choice in Dortmund and would like to join FC Zurich. All it would take is fitting the striker into the FCZ budget.

I thought this was done a long time ago:  BVB sign Tinga (http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/Kind=2/newsId=446223.html)

It was speculated about a lot, but the deal was never actually sealed, specially since Tinga still had to play Copa Libertadores (which he finished yesterday and on which he scored a goal, as well; played very well).
Good for us (Dortmund) in getting this guy! :)

Metro nailed it. It's just now official. However, I don't think we'll see him actually in uniform until after the two-week International/Cup break coming up.

Looks like nothing was done with that Odonkor money. I thought we'd at least make an offer for Westermann.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. But, maybe we couldn't afford the extra salary just yet.

Maybe we're letting that Odonkor money collect interest before a move at the winterpause or the end of the season depending on what Metzelder and how Amedick and Brzenska improve and mature.

Talking about Metzelder, does anybody know if they are in contract talks or he is sighning a new one

No talks that I know of. Metzelder has said that even though they aren't talking right now, nothing has been decided.

I truly don't know what to think myself at the moment. The longer he stays on the sidelines, the lower his value is going to be to a new club.

Metzelder says the fact that BVB are openly courting Heiko Westermann, apparently to replace him, does not bother him. That's what he says. I can't see how it doesn't bother him.

I have a crazy 'conspiracy theory' of my own. It involves Metzelder leaving.

I think he could leave and sign with FC Bayern!

Why?

I get the feeling Bayern are going to sell Lucio at the end of the season. Lucio doesn't seem to be happy there anymore and I think it's because Lucio and van Buyten can't get along.

Even though Ismael has been hurt all season, Bayern really were not satisfied with him last season and that's why they signed van Buyten. Metzelder would be the perfect replacement for Lucio.

I'm not saying that's going to happen, it's just one of my silly conspiracy theories.

Hell, even if we get Westermann and Metzelder stays, that just means we're set for when Woerns retires. However, with Martin Amedick showing that he's a potential starter in central defense, I get the feeling Metzelder may wind up being the "odd man out" no matter what.

At least in central defense. Metzelder could always be moved out to the right wing and Degen moved out of Dortmund.

This will be the mystery of the winter break for us.

Does anyone have any idea why BVB management seem to be oblivious to the fact that Yildray Basturk is available on a free transfer after the season??

Sure, I know all the rumors have Basturk going to FC Bayern, but Basturk is from our area.

Does anyone know why BVB seemingly aren't going for him?

Salary? Just stupid? What?

The Old Lady Hertha

 Dunno either, but I don't think Yildi would bother with BvB anyways because he's clearly stated he wants to play for a Champions League team and Bayern are the logical choice.

Personally would be a bit gutted if he left, but its a chance to put Boateng in his right position at AM and have Ebert play RM, but losing Basturk for free just blows.

Thanks for that. I knew that part already, but what I want to know is why BVB management aren't at least taking a shot.

Here's one thing we both know. A player can state he wants to play for a CL team all he wants.

If a CL team doesn't want him, he's pretty much f#cked isn't he??

Not just talking about Basturk and Bayern. I'm talking about anyone.

I just want to see something that tells me BVB management has a f#cking clue as to what's going on around them.

We DESPERATELY need help in offensive midfield and who is the biggest name we're linked with??

Heiko Westermann. A defender. Defense is the strongest part of our team. Yeah, I want Westermann if Metzelder leaves, but we need midfield help too and to me, management seems to be clueless about it.
