we would have if UEFA had not changed the rules ... only the 6th qualified

UEFA didn't change any rules. Germany lost a place before because of its falling in the 5 Year Coefficient Tables. I forget how, but Germany was awarded an extra Intertoto place last season.

"jonam" said it was just a press rumor and I believe him. Since we signed Valdez, all BVB management have been talking about is Frei, Frei, Frei....

I think Valdez and Frei, along with the Brazilan Tinga, are the only ones BVB management are truly "publicly" interested in......

We were linked with this Ukrainian from Sp. Moscow--Maxim Kalinichenko in SkySports today. He played pretty well against Saudi Arabia; last week we were also linked with Argentine playmaker Federico Insua (Boca Jrs.), who is very good himself.

It's BS. We just happen to be one of the clubs that English reporters still like to use whenever they need clubs to supposedly "link" a player with to either make their story more interesting or fill space.

Does anyone want to take a guess at why BVB apparently prefer paying money for this guy "Tinga" when Ze Roberto is available on a f#cking FREE TRANSFER??!!!

Here are some reasons I can think of:

a) Ze Roberto wants too much money (salary).

(I could believe that one. I think this is the most likely scenario.)

b) Ze Roberto doesn't plan to play for another German club.

(I could believe that one too)

c) Ze Roberto doesn't want to play for us.

(I find that one hard to believe....)

d) BVB thinks he's "too old".

(I think besides salary, this is the most likely one. Although in my opinion, he's still better than any midfielder we've currently got, to include Kringe.)

e) BVB mangement thinks the fans won't "accept" him.

(I don't know about this one. "jonam"??)

f) BVB have gone after him, but are being quiet about it.

(I somehow doubt that one. When we have interest in a player, it usually gets leaked......)

Those are the only "reasonable" things I can think of.

What do you guys think???

Thanks for that Ze Roberto word.

Not sure about Werder "cooling" their interest in CMetz. I think all is just quiet at the moment.

I agree with AMK, I think he yearns to play in Spain or Italy.
