As "jonam" stated earlier, Westline.de reports that the Diego Klimowicz to BVB deal is "as good as done." No fee amount was speculated on that site, though one will be paid.
"jonam" wrote that a rumored fee is less than 1M Euros. I would definitely take that, but such a low fee is hard to believe unless Wolfsburg are just trying to dump his salary.
Westline also speculates that Wolfsburg will bring in Espanyol's Walter Pandiani to replace Klimowicz. That would be a good reason to dump Klimowicz' salary. If the Pandiani rumor is true, you can bet your ass he won't come cheap.
Westline also reports that Ebi Smolarek will remain in Dortmund despite heavy speculation that he would be leaving.
One major reason is that apparently, BVB are still under the original agreement with Feyenoord that brought Smolarek to Dortmund.
According to Westline, if BVB were to sell Smolarek during this transfer period, Feyenoord would still be entitled to 50% of the transfer fee.

Can't really blame management for this one. We wanted, no, we NEEDED the player at the time and we didn't have the money to demand a straight deal. This was worth the price we got Smolarek for.
And except for that disasterous second half of last season, he's been worth more than three times what we paid for him.

Yea, I read that in a Swiss newspaper regarding Smolarek... How much money did we pay for him?
How much money do we have to spend this summer? Enough to get a really world class  midfielder?

If I remember properly, it was somewhere around a million Euros. Might not have been that much. We got a great price for him.

Well, the Klimowicz transfer is pretty much done. Klimowicz has said that himself. Depends on how much we're going to pay for him.
Honestly, I've been thinking about if we truly need a "world class" midfielder.
Stuttgart doesn't have one and they are about to lift the title. Plus, is there anyone out there in our price range who can come in and do the job?
I've been looking around and with Misimovic off the market and Basturk now pretty much off the market (He's all but signed with Stuttgart), I think that answer is "no."
Well, that is unless we go elsewhere in Europe or to South America, but is there anyone there who is really so much better than Pienaar, Sahin or "Kuba" (I think they are going to try to convert him to central midfield) that it is worth paying a lot of money for them?
Right now, I think the only person who can answer the question of whether we truly need a "world class" midfielder or not is Thomas Doll.
I know that's a complete 180 from what I've been screaming for over the past few months, but we also have to see if there is anyone out there worth the money who we can realistically get.......

where did you hear this?
Kuba is a natural right winger who occasionally should be allowed to drift into center - the way he plays is very Figo-esque (obviously he is no where near his class) but I am exceptionally high on Kuba.....
i am not sure how effective he would be if he played cm exclusively

Just my own speculation. Rosicky was the same type of player. Better attacking from the wing and being allowed to drift into center.
Plus, we picked up Federico, who also likes to attack from the wing and add to that we did not go after any of the few true #10s available.
I don't want to see them try to convert "Kuba" either, but I'll bet that what those dumbasses have in mind......

you nailed it on the head. i love wisla krakow and that is exactly how he is utilized... almost the same when on the polish nt.
if BVB does what footyfan says with putting him in the middle it will take away from his abilities and almost set his destiny for failure :(

i'm not doubting you bro, either way Kuba could fail at his natural position on the right flank or in the middle. however BVB utilizes him is all up to the club, i just hope he succeeds in whatever position you guys put him in

This is true....Rosicky is back to his natural right winger spot on my Gunners...but Rosicky played more CM out of sheer necessity for BVB...who else did we have?....
Not that we are endowed with midfield luxury at this point but Tinga is much better suited to play CM than Kuba
I can not say this enough but I really cannot wait for Kuba to play for BVB next season....the best talent I have seen in nearly 20 years to come out of Poland..
as if Paul Lambert and Flemming Povlsen morphed into one player....

Dude, the problem with Rosicky was not that they HAD to play him there, but that they bought him to convert him in the first place! We could have bought another central midfielder and kept Rosicky on the wing, but BVB were bound and determined to make him a #10. He became a decent one, but never anywhere close to what the club told the fans to expect. This is why he spent his latter years in Dortmund with the fans down on him.
In my opinion, it wasn't his fault, it was management's. Instead of buying a #7 and converting him to #10, damnit, just find a #10! (Not mad at you man, but the enduring incompetence of BVB management.....)
Before they got the Pienaar deal done, there was even talk of playing Smolarek in the middle this season!
I think we should make Nuri Sahin the #10. Gamble and live or die with the kid.
Not that we are endowed with midfield luxury at this point but Tinga is much better suited to play CM than Kuba
Tinga showed he can do it in a couple of matches this season too. Remember, it's not a fact that they will try to convert "Kuba", it is just a feeling I have. I could be wrong.

As I tell "BMike86", this is nothing against "Kuba" or you guys, but I'll believe it when I see it.........
I'm not saying "he sucks" or anything like that because I don't know anything about the kid. But if he's that good, how did we get him for a pittance???

Morgan Stanley’s Role In The Pursuit Of Rozehnal – Brzenska Staying Until 2011 – Klimowicz Close
http://mediadb.kicker.de/news/1000/1100/3000/artikel/575510/klimowicz_w__rns-1179414711.jpg
Teammates Next Season - Diego Klimowicz and Christian Woerns
Dortmund (wl): On Wednesday, Diego Klimowicz let the cat of out the bag at “Westline”. “Dortmund will be the final club of my career. We are close to an agreement.”
***My comment: Someone at “Westline” is full of shit. Klimowicz said that in the “Wolfsburger Nachrichten”.
The Argentine, who has 57 goals and 20 assists in 148 Bundesliga matches, will be BVB’s 4th new signing. His agent, Marcelo Carracedo says, “There are just minor details to be worked out between the two clubs. Diego is sticking around VfL Manager Klaus Fuchs to work out the final details. Diego wants to report to BVB for the opening of training camp in July.” Wife Paula and children Mateo (6) and Paloma (4) will accompany the six foot, two inch (1.91 cm) striker to the Ruhrpott.
Dortmund’s Dede, who has made the most crosses of any Bundesliga player is happy with the news on Klimowicz. “(Klimowicz is) A super striker. Now, I finally have another target for my crosses. One like Jan Koller.”
***My Comments: I think Dede is a little giddy! There's a bit of difference between six foot, two inches (1,91/Klimowicz) and six foot, seven inches (2,02/Koller) But, I guess when you've been crossing to tiny f#ckers like Smolarek, Valdez and yes, even Frei, for most of the past two f#ckin' seasons, getting a guy with any type of height would make you think of Koller!! LOL!!!
Klimowicz will be bid farewell in Wolfsburg on Saturday. At BVB he will enter a new tax class. Carracedo says quite often, “The fact that he will earn 40 percent more is not the total reason (for the move).”
Before Klimowicz, offensive players Giovanni Federico (26/Karlsruhe SC), Jakub Blaszczykowski (“Kuba”/21/Wisla Krakow) and goalkeeper Marc Ziegler (30/Bielefeld) had all decided to move to Dortmund.
Updating news from the club, who announced on contract extensions on Wedensday with central defender Markus Brzenska (through 2011) and with midfielder Daniel Gordon (through 2009), they are still trying to find a replacement for central defense leader Christoph Metzelder, who is moving to Real Madrid. A possible replacement seems to have been found in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Czech international David Rozehnal (26).
What seems to be holding up the acquisition is PSG’s demand of a transfer fee in the neighborhood of five million Euros. BVB Director of Sport Michael Zorc complains, “We cannot pay such high amounts anymore!”
***My comments: Yeah, Herr Zorc, especially after you paid that much for a player everyone else seemed to know wasn’t worth that kind of money except you dumbasses!!! BVB can’t be afraid to pay high fees now just because they f#cked up the Valdez transfer! I am in no way saying that Rozehnal is worth 5M Euros! No way! But, BVB can’t be afraid to pull the trigger on a big deal just because they messed up before! You can’t deal timidly, or you will never build a strong team!!!
What remains unclear is the role BVB partners Morgan Stanley could play in the pursuit of Rozehnal. It could be a decisive factor. The American investment bank, who is affiliated with Borussia through a 79,2M Euro credit and has interests in BVB’s success, belongs to a consortium that has recently “bought” Rozehnal’s current employer, PSG.
Zorc says on the situation, “It is not certain if Rozehnal will join us or not.” Insiders believe that BVB’s “vitamin M” (for Morgan Stanley) can’t hurt their chances in the next few weeks.

you and your Kuba "hater-rade"... you've got to stop drinking that stuff man :p
you guys got him for cheap because he is very young and is an up and coming talent in poland... everything comes out of poland cheap, its not like wisla krakow can afford him. and the big clubs are looking for bigger fish. celtic fc got boruc for a reasonable price, arsenal got fabianski for a good price, you know as well as us that polish clubs can't afford a single one of their good players. he is like i said the next best thing out of poland, and i'm glad someone else agrees with me here. but again, i agree with you footy, we must wait and see, only time will tell. i have a feeling he will be a star for you guys.
if you guys get a cooler sponsor on the front other than that stupid yellow card symbol thing, i will get a Kuba jersey this summer

i thought you guys had a new sponsor deal, and that the new sponsor was supposed to be ready for your kits after the winter break... what happened to that? did that fall through, and if so are their any other possible sponsors stepping up to the table as a possibility?
