I agree with footyfan. Klimo would be perfect.
It's always a good thing to have a good target guy in the middle, especially a guy with proven skill, and past BL success, like Klimowicz.
Klimowicz's presence will create more space, and scoring opportunities. for Frei.
And BVB simply can't afford a top tier striker (or at least one that is young and currently "hot"). Klimowicz is good value for the money, the way I see it.

It's not much more than I post here, but if you'd like to help pick up the discussion, you are more than welcomed to join us.
We are at Yahoogroups under the name "borussia-dortmund"
It's an awsome group...been a member since 98 I think...when was it still ISFA, Keith?

It's finally official:
According to the spanish newspaper "AS", Metzelder has signed a 4 year contract with Real Madrid worth 12 Million €.

I'll wait until Metzelder himself tells us. According to the "Spanish Media", this deal has been "done" on four separate occasions......

Well, do we go with Klimowicz or do we buy a defender to replace Metzelder? (If the report is true)

We do both man. We do both.
SportBild said yesterday that we're also interested in FCN's Marek Mintal. I can't see that being true though. I'd love Mintal on our squad if I was sure about his foot. Which no one can be sure of. He's missed most of the past three seasons (the past two and this one) with that same foot breaking.
What scares me is that if this is true, the only reason I could see us trying to bring Mintal in would be if they are truly considering letting Frei move on. :o

It seems silly to spend all that money on bringing Frei into the squad and then just letting him go after a year.

Just found out in kicker that the Mintal rumor is bullshit. At least according to FCN's general manager.
And with a player like Frei, who has had the season he's had, he can force a club to let him go.
Don't forget, he pretty much forced Stade Rennes to sell him to us.....

Still Frei said he WON't go!!
When did he say that?
Zorc said they won't sell him.
Frei has only ever said that at the time of the interview, he wasn't thinking about leaving at that time. He did say that if Lens or PSG make an offer he would have to seriously consider it.
He didn't say, "I have a contract with Dortmund" or "I am staying in Dortmund."
He still wants to have talks with Zorc (and I assume Watzke) after the season.
I put nothing past him.
No, I don't think he is leaving, but I put nothing past him.......

Boy am I glad that this rumor turned out to be false. Mintal is a good player no doubt about that, but I am seriously questioning if he will be able to return to form after those injuries. He has not done so as of yet.
If I could choose a player from 1.FCN it would be Ivan Saenko. I know he is not much bigger than Frei but he has tremendous speed. Plus, he is still young and is still improving his game. However , I see no chance of getting him for next season.
If all attempts at Klimovicz and Petric fail, I would consider signing Amanatidis from Frankfurt. He is always sure to score 5-10+ goals per season. Last week against Aachen he should have scored about 3 with all the chances he created. I would actually consider him more of a proven goal scorer than Klimovicz.

He hasn't been given much of an opportunity to either. I know when he played against us earlier this season, he was great. Just didn't score.
FCN doesn't need to press him back into service and it is good that they don't.
But I have no doubt if he can stay healthy, he would at least come close to his form of two (almost three) seasons ago when he lead the Bundesliga in goal scoring.
The question is, would that foot hold up? It isn't that he hasn't "regained his form" it is that his foot has not held up long enough to truly tell.

No. FCN isn't letting Saenko go anywhere. He's the reason they can even afford to listen to any offers that might come for Mintal.
And here's something else. Another guy on our e-mail list suggested Saenko for BVB well before FCN ever signed him. FCN were probably tracking him and moved quickly.
But, as everyone knows, BVB's scouting department is about as good as the way a pile of shit smells on a hot day.......

That would be OK if it was just goals we're looking for. We are looking for a tall/"big" striker to help the outside game and to create some space for Frei. Amanatidis does not fit that requirement.

When did the Petric rumor come about? I think I might have missed that one. And is this the Petric that plays for FC Basle in Switz.?

BVB have been rumored to be interested in Petric well before he extended with Basel.
One of the big rumors was that before Roeber quit, von Heesen had already joined Zorc at a Basel match to watch Petric.
It is one move I don't think they will actually make.

Petric would be great for us no doubt. He is a really good stricker let me tell you... and he will score more goals than Valdez for sure
David Rozehnal (PSG) could be replacing Christoph Metzelder... I am not sure that this what we need

For me a Petric move doesn't make any sense. From what I've found of him, he's pretty much the same player as Federico. Plus, we're also almost surely bringing in Diego Klimowicz.
The only way a Petric move would make any sense is if we're letting Smolarek go.
I really don't see Petric moving to Dortmund to sit on the bench and he would NOT start ahead of Frei, Klimowicz or Federico.

We "needed" to keep Metzelder, but our management was too f#cking STUPID to do that.
I'm not excited about any Rozehnal transfer anyhow. I think we SHOULD be trying to get another more experienced player to lead the defense once Christian Wörns retires after the upcoming season.
I keep saying, "You cannot continue to replace experience with inexperience and expect to win........."
As long as we keep letting experienced guys go and replacing them with kids, we will never get to the top again.
If you keep building for the future, the future may never get here.
I think we should either not replace Metzelder in the first half of the season and go with Wörns, Brzenska, Amedick and Uwe Hünemeier in central defense, or get an older, but not as old as Wörns type of guy with some serious experience.

Got anyone in mind or have there been any rumors about a guy that would fit that bill?

Seems that the Klimowicz deal is done. Rumoured fee is just below 1mio Euro.

No to both questions. Not unless you put Rozehnal in that category. And he just might be.
