I think Tinga has been pretty good, not great, but good. And at least in the first half of the season he played in the wrong side because of Pienaar (what a waste of space...)

Good catch. I'm in a hurry. Lame excuse, but true.

I know what Federico can do. Question is, can he do it in the 1. Liga in the stadium he grew up watching the club he admired as a boy?
I want to see what Kuba can do for myself. BVB has hyped up new signing after new signing in the past three or four years and except for Smolarek (overall) and Frei, they've been disappointments.
yea but Kuba is better than Smolarek and is the best player in all of poland (that isn't a goalkeeper)...if you can't wait to see for yourself, i can't wait to see what he can do in the bundesliga

What do you guys think should be done at right back. I'm not sure that I want to see Degen there again next season. I liked the guy to start out with, I think he has great potential, I still don't dislike him - he just hasn't produced like we needed him to.
I've seen footage of him playing at Basel. I've also watched him play with the Swiss NT. He is a completely different player at BVB. Maybe the Bundesliga is just not for him. I honestly don't know.
Do you think they are looking for a replacement? Maybe just an alternative to get Degen to try a little harder...

It's none of those things. He plays a different game with the national team. One that doesn't work in the Bundesliga.
We don't have a Philippe Senderos in central defense who can cover Degen's ass. The Swiss National Team "covers" him better than we do.
I also would rather have someone else there, but to be fair to him, he has looked better against Bielefeld, Aachen and Bremen.
I actually thought he was our "best" player against Bielefeld.
Do you think they are looking for a replacement?
No. They aren't smart enough. Plus, if they admit failure with him, they look bad. Degen was this regime's first "big" signing.....
Maybe just an alternative to get Degen to try a little harder...
Not even that. Watzke and Zorc like this kid too much.

We've had this conversation. I'm glad you feel that way, but I'll believe it when I see it.

"kicker" has once again speculated that Bielefeld backup keeper Marc Ziegler (30) is going to join us as our #2 next season.
This guy is solid. A much better backup than our injured keeper Meier or the kid Pirson.

Man, last time I saw that guy play was about 10 years ago at VfB Stuttgart...
I've been too far away from the Bundesliga for way too long.

I've been too far away from the Bundesliga for way too long.
Even if you hadn't been away, you wouldn't have seen him. He's bounced around between the 1. and 2. Ligas since he left Stuttgart.
I remember that too. Franz Wohlfahrt beat him out for the job there.
But, Ziegler seems to have found his form again. I think if he wanted to stay in Bielefeld, he could be their #1 next season as their coach Middendorp doesn't seem to like their current #1 and team captain, Matthias Hain.
And I didn't realize that he's only 30 too.....

They're all over this in Dortmund. They have talked and management has already told him he's going nowhere.
They will talk to him again after the season and they are probably going to make him team captain next season too......
Nothing to be concerned about. He can talk all he wants. Unless they get an offer they can't refuse, I am certain BVB are not going to sell our only goal-scorer.

Below is an article I translated from Westline.de on the Frei situation. It's the initial comments after the controversy started.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ziegler Coming; Frei Will Not Leave

He will also celebrate in a BVB uniform after this summer

The 2007/2008 BVB team is taking shape. Marc Zigler (30/Arminia Bielefeld) will be the new backup goalkeeper at Borussia Dortmund.
After a medical check scheduled for this week, the contract should be signed.
On the other hand, Ziegler’s future teammate Alexander Frei (27) was read his rights on Monday. Dortmund’s top goal scorer with 13 goals had some statements interpreted by Bild to insuinate he wants to leave. Frei apparently said, "I am unhappy here. I will sit down with Michael Zorc at the end of the season."
Zorc said on Monday in a conversation with our editors, "Frei should be dissatisfied with the season. We all are. However, I made our position perfectly clear to him. Why would I sell our best goal-scorer? Someone needs to clear that one up for me!"
Frei and Zorc have scheduled a talk after the end of the season. However, this talk will not be about a transfer, but rather the team for next season and Frei’s role within the team. He will take more of a leading role, says Zorc. Perhaps they will wave the captain’s armband (in front of him).......

Albert Streit? - I would be willing to give him a chance. He's young, faster than any midfielder we have now, has a decent cross, the type of player we don't have so far. Good stats this season.
David Degen supposedly said he would want to be loaned out to BVB to play with his bro Philip. I don't see that loan deal working, but I could see Zorc thinking about signing him when Gladbeck goes down. I don't look forward to taht one...

Streit's agent has denied the rumor. I know that does not mean it isn't true, but he's denied it for now.
And I'd like to have Streit too. But for his great attitude more than anything. Problem is, he would have to not mind coming off the bench. I think "Kuba" will battle Pienaar for a spot or they both may be on the bench as BVB has claimed they are after a "true playmaker".......
"Bild" rumors say that playmaker is "Alex" from Internacional, a former teammate of Tinga. However, I asked a Argentinian scout I know about the guy and he said "Alex" is a good player but is more suited to the wing than central midfield. He said the guy doesn't even like playing central midfield.
That would continue BVB's stupid policy of buying wingers and trying to turn them into playmakers......

It would have to be a loan. As far as I know, David's contract is also good for the 2. Liga. I don't think BVB are going to buy him.
And I would like it. David proved the be the better Degen this season in sparking Gladbach off the bench. That's the kind of energy we need off the bench.

Frei said today that leaving Dortmund is not what he's thinking of.
However, "the grapevine" says he's saying that as not to destroy morale.
No matter, BVB won't sell him anyhow.

yup
There is no way Frei is leaving. I am sure this season has been waste for him and he is massively disappointed but Dumb and Dumber are not letting him go.

Of course we would. We are a club who only currently has one guy capable of scoring goals.
"jonam" and I wanted the club to get Klimowicz for THIS SEASON. I guess they finally read the email I sent last year! :)
