what did roeber say?
unless it was something very bad it shouldn't affect anything with clubs he's been negotiating with for a while now

It's in the article posted at the General Discussion thread here:

There are "big names" on the BVB team – Metzelder, Wörns, Kehl – but right now it's only the names that are big.
All three take refuge in words and think, like Metzelder, that only four or five top clubs in Europe are good enough for them...
That is correct.
You yourself have always called Metzelder the "head" of the team. A mistake?
At the beginning, I thought he was different. Today, let me put it this way: In the practice session, I always ran in front of the team. Sometimes Kringe joined me. Metzelder likes to stick to the end of the group.
That means, you don't consider him and others a role model in practice.
Last week, Metzelder and Kehl were out of practice most of the time (with injuries, KC). In the Friday session, I had the team play 10 against 8. But those two prefered to run a bit and didn't want to join after being without "ball practice" for a week. Imagine that! I had to talk them into joining the team.
Right.
So does this make you think differently of metzelder, because you were one if his biggest fans on this thread? Do you think this is why he was "forced out" ?

[I][B]Right.

No. I think he adopted this attitude because of how he was treated by the club.
But Roeber's words cannot be good for his bargaining position with any club interested in signing him.

Today's "Kicker" speculates that in the event Bochum is relegated both BVB and Bayer Leverkusen will be lying in wait to sign Greek striker Teofanis Gekas.
"Kicker" predicts that BVB will sign current Bielefeld #2 keeper Marc Ziegler to be BVB's new #2. Still no speculation on who BVB would go after should Weidenfeller exercise the out-clause in his contract.
Still no rumors or speculation about BVB going after a true #10. Even as new assistant coach Ralf Zumdick laments the fact that BVB doesn't have a true #10.
Perhaps it will be after the season. If we survive, I think Doll will ask for one.

No. I think he adopted this attitude because of how he was treated by the club.
I thought the treatment he got from the club is how he was treated badly in being given the chance to stay and extend his contract, and that happened after most of the stuff that I copy-pasted before right? Ie. I thought most of roeber's comments about metzelder applied from before the whole contract extension thing?
Or was he mis-treated by the club in instances apart from that too?

Dude, the contract thing has been going on for most of the season.
Why do you think there were times van Marwijk kept Metzelder on the bench even when he was fit??
Or did you not know that??

na man I haven't been following it closely....
I thought metzelder only recovered to playing fitness 1 or 2 games before the winter break? And that he's played all the games since then

Nah. He was able to play a little bit before BvM left. BvM just kept playing Brzenska.

It's just you.
Metzelder is leaving no matter what.
Kehl just extended. He's going nowhere.
We've been through this one time before. We didn't lose players and two years later, we won the title.
We just need to survive.
Some players will go, but they've already been replaced or will be sooner rather than later. They are more than likely:
Smolarek, Amoah, and Pienaar.
Smolarek and Amoah for sure, Pienaar has a slight chance of being kept around.

This is from an e-mail I sent last night called "We're Desperate For Goals"
I'll add some things that followed the original mail too.
++++++++++++++++++++
(We're Desperate For Goals......)
And I've just saw the solution to our problems in today's "kicker".
LET'S BRING BACK AMOROSO!!! :D
Corinthians just released him.........
And I'm only half kidding. Actually, maybe not even that much.
At least he'll probably score a few goals and won't f#cking cost 4.5M Euros.......
+++++++++++++++++++
Then after I got a smartass remark from another lister......
I know most all of you HATE Amoroso for what he did. And that's fine. I don't blame you one bit for that.
I don't hold a grudge against him because I know about the club's part in this too. That and frankly, I think holding grudges for something like this is completely childish.
Anyhow, the guy handled the shit wrong, but the club isn't totally innocent in this matter either.
And this poisoned atmosphere at BVB goes all the way back to those times!!
I warned you guys back then that you needed to try to see both sides of the story and that bad management could eventually destroy this club.
Well, here we are.......
I wrote to the club about Amoroso last night too. I think it is time to let bygones be bygones and take this chance. What do we have to lose when have a bunch of unproductive, sorry ass mother f#ckers playing the position now?
No matter what you think of Amoroso, this guy would bring two things to this team that are desperately needed.
1) The threat of a dangerous attack on net from almost anywhere in the offensive zone.
2) Believe it or not, we miss that swagger (attitude) that SOB brought to us in his first season too. To borrow a line from Mike Tyson, Amoroso would "eat his opponents children" to get a shot at goal. That is, when he's motivated. And nothing much motivated that guy more than playing at the Westfalenstadion.........
What could it possibly hurt or cost to bring him back for this last seven (or six) weeks?? He's been playing in the Brazilian League up until now, so he should be in some kind of shape.
And oh yes. He and our coach can communicate with one another in Italian...........
As I said in the mail I sent to BVB about this, "Desperate times call for desperate measures." I know they hate Baldo and Amoroso. However, I don't feel this way, but I am pretty sure most BVB fans do. But yes, in this situation, I'd sell my soul to the devil............
However, as *** said in her response, I think it is a good idea that doesn't stand a chance in hell of happening.
Maybe I'll send a copy of my mail to Sascha Fligge at "Westline"....... LOL!! :D

At the moment I don't care who scores them or how they come, if there's someone out there that can help us stay in the division then I'm all for it, without question. Granted, I think the chances of Amoroso playing for this club again are slim to none but as a demonstration of a broader point, we are simply not in a position to knock back either players, input or advice if it can help us in the remaining matchdays. To put past sentiment or pride before retaining Bundesliga status would just be crazy in my eyes.

What do you guys think of Marcelinho at Wolfsburg?
Do you think he could've had a simliar impact on us as he did with them. We sure could've used those 4 goals & 7 assists in the 2nd half of the season.
He was about to come as far as i Know, but then they decided against it.

He was going to Wolfsburg and BVB management had a chance to hijack the deal, but they didn't want to pay more than what Wolfsburg was paying.
Back then, I thought if they said the price was too high, then they must be right.
Afterwards, I did some asking around and I think if BVB management wanted to, they could have gotten Marcelinho.
And yes, now, I think they blew that one. They were afraid to take a chance and make him the highest paid player on the team.

I understand if they played it safe, I wouldn't have expected it from that bunch though.
Marcelinho has had a repututation of being somewhat of a head case. He seems to have settled down with age though - even his hair color doesnt change every week anymore.
I think it was a similar situation as with Ailton a last season. BVB was in there, HSV got him - and he sucked, well he got hurt and then he sucked. It payed off that time, looks like it didnt this time.

Great comments!
But yes, I expected this bunch to play it safe. That's how we've wound up with guys like Smolarek and Amoah.
Had it been the old management team, I would have expected expensive purchases.
BTW man, I think you and I are the only ones around here who dig BVB and 1. FCN. :D
