As of Friday morning here in Germany, no Metzelder/Real deal has been done.
Both Metze's agent and Real have denied that any deal is done.
Metze's agent says a decision won't be made before next week.
Most expect it to be Real, but nothing is official yet!

GolTV reported it last nite, but if you say nothing is official, I suppose that is that.

GolTV was probably quoting the "Bild" reports, which has been denied by both sides.
The news I gave you guys was from a far more reliable source out of the Dortmund area.

It's a shame if he would leave.
I mean, its good for him to go abroad, it'll help him grow as a player but Madrid?
yuck!

I think marca in spain have reported him as signed too.
I'd love it if when the news officially came out it was to juventus not real madrid! Or Inter even. (who are supposedly ready to make a bid for KP boateng according to sky sports??!)

He's definitely leaving. Dortmund are pushing him out of the door.

I don't think he feels the same way about Madrid as we do........

Of course, it's still a "dream" destination for just about every player.
The problem I have with it is the stigma attached to Madrid's defending. I don't want Metze to become the new Cannavaro or Woodgate at Madrid, both are/were a joke.

My only problem with madrid is that joke defending factor, as well as the fact that they don't strike me as a "proper football club". Too much interference from the top and too many signings coming and going..it all just seems cosmetic. But if he can establish himself and in 2-3 years have played 95% of games for madrid, then that'd be great and would signal stability at the club.

That's fine, but I'm going to trust the word of the man's agent.

If he doesn't go to Real, Inter will probably be his choice. If you believed the reports last week, he was definitely going to Inter.

That's Metze's choice, not ours. I don't want him going there either for the same reasons.
I know he's "good", but to be his best, he needs support and he will not get that at Madrid.
That's why I hope all these rumors are just crap and he'll still go to Inter or Juve, although I hate them too.

Really? There's a definitition for a "proper football club?"
Pray tell, what is it??
Too much interference from the top and too many signings coming and going..it all just seems cosmetic.
Do you know how many clubs that goes on at? I'd say about two-thirds.
Hell, that's the problem at BVB right now!
I guess we aren't "a proper football club" either??

I'll believe that will happen at Real the day Vincente del Bosque is restored to that Real coaching position.

What I said about proper football club is not to be taken too seriously. It's just an impression that I have, based on the fact that they've won at the turn of the decade using money, and the place just seems seems unstable. Lots of new players coming in and leaving. I don't see dortmund in the same boat, no. It's mainly because of Real's money. Kind of like Inter in the 90s..that's the impression I have of them.
And yeah I agree..with del bosque he wouldn't stand for any of this crap and get the team in order the way he wants it.

I see why you used "supposedly". Because they quote "reports in the German media."
Those are the articles I disregard altogehter.
Especially because in the past few months or so, K-P Boateng's star has dropped from the sky like a 300 pound rock.
That and I'm pretty sure that especially after losing Dejagh to Wolfsburg, they have to hold on to K-P Boateng even more now.
I don't even remember any of the "German Media Reports" they quote. Probably like that one a few weeks ago that claimed Basturk is going to sign for BVB.
One little article of pure speculation in a Berlin paper and it went around the country.
What I said about proper football club is not to be taken too seriously.
I see what you mean now.
It's just an impression that I have, based on the fact that they've won at the turn of the decade using money, and the place just seems seems unstable.
Dude, there are very few clubs who have won in the past 15-20 years who didn't do it using money.
Lots of new players coming in and leaving. I don't see dortmund in the same boat, no.
Dude, how do you think we got in the predicament we are in?? The very same way. We are just how you describe Real with no money anymore.
It's mainly because of Real's money. Kind of like Inter in the 90s..that's the impression I have of them.
Dude, if you think it was just Real and Inter, I think you're kidding yourself. You need to add, Bayern, Barca, Dortmund, Schalke, Leverkusen, Kaiserslautern, Lyon, Marseille, Juventus, Lazio, Man U., Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool, Roma, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Celtic, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Rangers, PSV, Feyenoord, PSG, Valencia and anyone else who's had any semblance of success in Europe, the past 15 years except maybe Ajax.
Even Bremen has to be on that list.......
And yeah I agree..with del bosque he wouldn't stand for any of this crap and get the team in order the way he wants it.
And that's exactly why Perez got rid of him. And it's why I'm happy Real hasn't won jack shit since they fired him. del Bosque was a "no name" who got a chance and proved that a guy doesn't have to be a "celebrity name" to be a great coach.

Yeah I know. Only ajax are totally clean. All those clubs you mentioned are "impure" by old standards and I wish it'd be like it was in the old days as well.
But just going by the newer standards here...
Dortmund didn't use money on the same scale as real madrid did, did they? Same for bayern. And also things that real did like selling (forcing it onto) their training complex to the council to get out of debt!
Real and Inter have used money on a higher scale.
That's just the money side of it. There's also the stability. Like chelsea have used as much money as those two but they're stable with players not coming in and out and a strong manager who keeps those things in check and doesn't take crap from abramovich. Same for bayern - they're stable.
Barcelona have used money too, but they're stable unlike real. They've got the feel of a real football club to me.
So it's just that real and the worst in terms of money and stability. That's all.

I never said I wish it were like the old days. I don't. Even then, you had a few elite clubs running the show in each country.
No thank you. I kind of like it the way it is today.
But just going by the newer standards here...
Dortmund didn't use money on the same scale as real madrid did, did they? Same for bayern.
They didn't have a Galacticos policy, but they both bought and ditched players like there was no tomorrow in the from the mid-90s on. So did Leverkusen.
And also things that real did like selling (forcing it onto) their training complex to the council to get out of debt!
Real and Inter have used money on a higher scale.
And neither of them broke rules using money and pillaged their own league to stay on top like Bayern did.
I could tell you things Bayern did that would make you wonder why they never suffered Juventus' fate.
That's just the money side of it. There's also the stability. Like chelsea have used as much money as those two but they're stable with players not coming in and out and a strong manager who keeps those things in check and doesn't take crap from abramovich.
WHAT?? Bullshit!! Chelsea are not "stable!" Not by "straight" business standards. By business standards, Chelsea are operating so far in the red, it's not funny. They only survive becuase of Roman's money! And Roman was the one who told them he wasn't spending so much money anymore and they needed to win with what they have!
Same for bayern - they're stable.
And like I told you, I could tell you stories about how they got there. Bayern has done shit that makes Real look absolutely angelic.......
Barcelona have used money too, but they're stable unlike real. They've got the feel of a real football club to me.
By YOUR DEFINITION of what "a real football club" should be.....
So it's just that real and the worst in terms of money and stability. That's all.
They might be the worst now, but as far as the recent past, man, you don't know the half of it when it comes to other clubs like Bayern, Juve, BVB, AC Milan, etc.
Real are just bad now. These others have done pretty much the same shit in the past.
Like I said, you don't know the half of it. I won't do it here, but man do I have stories.......

What exactly do you mean there? I just meant that I would like money to be less of a factor and for clubs to develop their own players and use them. Less commericial intrusion too.
They didn't have a Galacticos policy, but they both bought and ditched players like there was no tomorrow in the from the mid-90s on. So did Leverkusen.

What I mainly meant was on-field stability and a strong coach. Yeah of course chelsea are bent off the field, or in the red, but on the field the team is stable. Same as barcelona and bayern.
I'm separating any illegal activity done off the field to raise money or swing other off-field things in their favour, from the players and the coach.
Real's actual team and the immediate surrounds seem a bit loose/unstable to me. (And the spending is very very high on top of that).
Where do you get the stories from by the way?

I was here when they happened. I helped cover a lot of them. Especially the Bayern ones.
Like I said, Bayern have done some shit that makes Real look downright angelic.
But, we've gotten way off topic here.......

No Metzelder news. And the things Roeber had to say about him won't raise his stock with prospective new clubs......
