Does anyone else think BVB should get some help in the winter transfer market? It's clear to me that Pienaar is a bust and Valdez needs some bench time.

time to splash the cash....

Pienaar is an interesting player....i think he has a wealth of talent (ahem, like Buckley) but just looks lost out there....he might regain his form but not as a starter in the coming rounds....its pine time

desperately need a quality versatile wing player
amoah, ricken just dont cut it - sahin - who can play wing - has on and off nights , tyrala - too young...

another striker would be a good idea - but he would have to be at least 6 feet tall....(get some presence in the box)

Don't know that there's any left to 'splash'.......

He has been riding the pine for the last three weeks. Pienaar is his own worst enemy. When things don't go his way, instead of putting his head down and trying harder, he gets frustrated and his game goes to shit.

Amoah just isn't good enough, Ricken seems to only be able to play well in Cottbus, on top of the fact that he can never stay healthy and Sahin's future is in central midfield, not on the wing.

We totally agree here. The guy doesn't even have to be a great player, just big and able to help set things up for the others.

Problem is that then, someone has to go to the bench. Right now, we agree that player should be Valdez, but I'd be willing to bet the player who goes to the bench would be Smolarek..........

Well, here in mexico there is a rumor that mexican Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista has signed a pre-contract with Borussia Dortmund, it would be a perfect move he is a great player

borussia dortmund has got useless players
amoah
pienar
valdez
those players cant find them self in bvb so i think that:-
sell amoah and pienar
loan valdez( out geramny)

also buying attacking midelfier will be good deal

Dude, people will not line up to sell us an attacking midfielder. We need to be realistic when we come with these buying scenarios.

BVB will not totally give up on Pienaar so quickly. He was a free transfer, so they can afford to keep him around, even as a bench player.

Amoah was very cheap and we only got him due to an emergency situation at striker last season (injuries & Smolarek quit scoring).

Valdez has been a bust so far, but with the play he gives the club on the pitch each week, he's not going anywhere. With him, you can tell he is not a crap player, he is just pressing himself too much. He will score and when he does, it will come in bunches.

Remember, I also think BVB should be active in the winter transfer market, but WE HAVE TO REMEMBER that the club does not have THAT MUCH MONEY and we will not be able to buy players better than the ones we already have. Not during the winter break anyhow. Not unless we buy unknown players from other hemispheres.

Actually, I don't think we need to get rid of anyone. We need to find a playmaker who can give the club more than Pienaar and Sahin. That will not be easy to do. We may be stuck with those two for the rest of the season.

I believe we also need a "big" striker. He doesn't even have to be a great player. Just a "big" guy who can give opponents more trouble with crosses, set up guys like Frei and Smolarek, score a couple of goals himself and not cause trouble when he spends time on the bench.

Actually, I think we could get a guy like that pretty cheaply during the winter break. The guy I am thinking of is an ex-BVB prospect too.

Mainz' Conor Casey.

And before some of you tell me I am biased and crazy, come up with a better solution please........

Back to the central midfield situation. I think we have to hope Pienaar comes around or we find a guy with a bad contract situation in one of the other Euro leagues, Mexico or South America.

But I do believe that situation has to be addressed. I don't believe our problems will be solved simply by the return of Sebastian Kehl........

Well, mexican players are not as well known as South Americans, but "el Bofo" Bautista is a very skilled and versatile player, normally plays behind the strikers and have a great passing hability, he shredded Boca Juniors defense at Copa Libertadores in 2005, eliminating the argentinians from the competition, and defeated brazilian team Sao Paulo at the Morumbi stadium this year (the brazilian team were undefeated in their home for twety years or more at Copa Libertadores games), so he has "local" credentials, he's a little bit younger and a little more explosive than VfB Pavel Pardo, and was excluded from the mexican WC squad due to differences with the coach, if it happens, he could be a good aquisition.

CD Guadalajara's president, Mr. De Latorre comfirmed the transfer "unoficially", but I guess well see this coming December.

He is really tall, too, so it would make one think he would be a good target forward type guy, yet he usually plays like a 2nd striker because of his great passing ability (as jq pepe mentioned).
He also has a very short temper.

This article speaks about several Chivas Guadalajara players who have sparked interest in Europe.
I don't know about MoFo... er... Bofo Bautista, but I remember some Borussia Dortmund exec named Fred Prussak went to watch a Guadalajara game and according to mexican tv, he was more interested in watching Medina and Bravo.
All of them are attackers.

That's not why I mentioned him. I mentioned him because I'm thinking of someone off the bench to give BvM a "big" option in the middle late in matches.

Casey isn't good enough to start for us.

Right now, if BvM wants a presence in the middle late in matches, he has to bring in a defender, Markus Brzenska.

Casey would not cost more than 200,000 to 500,000 Euros. His contract is up after this season and Mainz would be happy to get anything for him.

My thoughts exactly!

That's the way I felt when Dempsey was sitting on the bench against the Czech Republic this past summer...

BVB (along with Bayer and Bremen) seem to have made an offer for Aachen's Schlaudraff.

Rumors are going around that BVB have already made Scheisse an offer for Lincoln.

Anyone heard this??

EDIT: I've had a couple of people call me and they think more will be known after the Derby. However, I do have to say that the guys who called me are not people I consider "reliable sources". They are speculating that an offer has been made and that Lincoln wants to join us.

But again, these are not guys I consider "reliable sources". They could just be joking with me.
