Nothing from Soviets, though...

I would add a few unusual moments:

1. Khusainov (USSR) tells the referee to remove a Soviet (!) goal as it entered the net from the side against Uruguay (1962?). USSR still won, though, 2-1.

2. Brazil scoring two unbelieavable goals in the last 15 minutes to beat USSR, 2-1, in 1982

3. A coin toss takes USSR past England to the next round (either 1958 or 1954, I am not sure)

4. USSR fall prey to two horrendous referee mistakes as Belgians score two goals from offsides positions, in a 4-3 loss to Belgium, in 1986. Both times linesman raises the flag but the referee waives it off.

5. Hand of God II. In 1990, while behind, 1-0 to Argentina, on a corner from Litovchenko, Kuznetsov smashes a 25-yard drive into the top corner only to have Maradona stop the ball very clearly with the palm of his hand like a goalie. Referee waives it off. Instead of the penalty kick and Maradona ejection, Soviets have their captain, Bessonov sent off for arguing. Note 1: according to FIFA rules, the captain has the right to argue the call and hear an explanation. Note 2: The referee for both the above match against Belgium and this match was the same Erik Fredriksson (Sweden)
