I'm sorry about what i'm going to say but i'll let it out :
F***********ck off Domenech, from the bottom of my heart.
First Sylvestre ( France lethal weapon...against itself) and now the chocker in chief Govou, mister it takes 10 clear chances to score a goal.
I'll stop here cause i feel i'm going to say things i don't want to say.

I agree Govou isn't exactly the best choice, why must Domenech be such a pigheaded fool?

this is just a copy of what i posted in the OL in germany thread, but it's better off here, so with your kind permission i'll permit myself a multiple.
i can't say i'm that displeased, i have a higher opinion of sid than most. the only real beef you can have about him is his horrendous finishing, but that's not his main line of goods.
what gets me is that he's more a wiltord bis than a replacement for cissé. really there was only one name on the list that made sense, and ray had already crossed it out with extreme prejudice: anelka.
the choice of govou might bode well. will ray finally abandon his 4-4-2 in a diamond? (sounds like an uptown train )... sure they haven't practised anything else, but what have they got to lose in terms of preparation at this point?
govou or wiltord on the right in a 4-3-3 (don't say 4-5-1, i"m talking about lyonnaising this team!) could bring about a sea change. just as the attack starts from the back, defense has to start from the front. with more help from the front, viera and maka might have the fighting chance to hold down the ground they clearly can't at present. zidane looks capable of doing this for 60', and ribéry would be great at it for the remaining 30'. neither trez nor henry have never been asked to do this in their careers, but the latter would be capable of an honorable effort if nino pulls his ear hard enough.
yes, govou may be a very poor kind of madeleine, but i feel life and hope springing from my cup of tea already!

What do you expect from that idiot to a coach?

Well, Govou is an understandable choice. And the good aspect about that decision is that he replaced a pure striker with a right wing midfielder. That increases the chance to see either Wiltord or Ribéry starting against Switzerland.
As I've always supported the idea France should play with wingers, I won't complain now about the choice of Govou. Granted I would have liked better Giuly, but I must have to accept the idea there may have been a risk to see him not fully fit for the game against Switzerland, considering he's currently in Australia.

Giuly and Anelka arent on good terms with the manager so thats why Sidney was chosen instead. He has kept quiet while those other 2 guys have been critical of Raymond for not being initially selected.

Some of the points made in the article are valid, but otherwise most of it is absolute crap! Apparently this guy knows what's best, but then again who doesn't!

I actually don't disagree on too many levels. I think people have forgotten that without Thuram, Zidane, and Maka coming back, Ireland would be in the WC and not France.

I only agree with;
3. Deploy wonder-youngster Franck Ribéry on the right side of midfield, where Vieira, wholly predictably, has been less effective than a bike in a boat race. Ribéry is fast, tricky and direct. He gets crosses in and creates havoc. This, Raymond, is a Good Thing.
Oh yes and this;
Oh - and 6. Plonk Fabien Barthez on the bench too. Don't bother with the cushion. Do remember Grégory Coupet, though.

Well Govou isn't one of the best 23 french players but he's a good sub, he'll not talk to the press, whine about not playing, he can play as a right midfielder and he'll be happy to play the World Cup
About Viera, I only have one thing to say : damn Domenech for his stupid losange midfield. Playing Viera as a right midfielder is a very stupid idea. If he trully wants to play like that, I hope he's gonna put Viera on the bench. But I would love to see a 451 with Make-Viera in the center
P.S : thanks for the link. The guy is funny, he wants to see Givet-Gallas in defense, OMG Givet :D

I'm a huge Givet fan and would love to see him get some playing time.

ok I'm pissed off that Ray is too stubborn and stupid to swallow his pride and go with one of the snubbed players instead of Govou but I do have to admit that getting a right winger in the squad is a good thing. We won't be able to rely on him for goals but at least it puts less pressure on Vieira to cover the right side which has been the biggest problem so far. So if wiltord or Govou play in the first half and Ribery comes on sometime before the the 75th minute France could still be alright.
Its really easy to wallow in misery with such a stupid coach but in the end you have to put some faith in the men on the field.

yes! that or henry-saha
Well, we called it right? What else could we expect from Domenech. Look, I don't blame the players for speaking out earlier because from the very start it was clear that domenech plays favorites, something that no coach (at least openly) should do. Anelka, yes, likes to shoot off his mouth but Giuly from all we know is a upstanding team player, who doesn't speak out against the team and always gives his best for every game (i.e. a perfect sub as well). Only a situation wherein he is clearly mistreated would motivate him to react so strongly against his non-selection - a situation that is domenech's fault, not any player's. In my opinion, yes Govou was smart for not speaking up but he never really should have figured in the list of 23 anyways, he had no reason to.

We knew it, we had a hint, now it's ultimately confirmed : if France does anything good in this WC it' will be ☛despite☚ Monsieur Domenech ! And that would be some exploit.

And this guy has no balls in addition of having no brain. I understand the importance of having people melting in the group but this logic must have some limits in wake of the biggest competition in this sport. You can't reject such valuable assets like that just for the sheer principle of sticking to one's bistrot psychologist crap theory unless...Unless you're a definite moron...
Roland Courbis may have his flaws but I remember one his interviews prior to the selection of Ray by the federation. He basically got it, he knew it would be Domenech cause they're all a bunch of spineless cretins. So there's a pattern and Govou's selection fits in. I just hope Courbis was wrong on France crashing and burning in the WC...

J'ai maintenant envie de dire : "Y'a des cons qui n'osent rien et c'est à ça qu'on les reconnaît aussi..."
PS : ******** you Monsieur Domenech for all the unnecessary displeasure you already brought to us.

Can everyone remember how Jacquet was slagged off by the press and fans prior to 1998, saying he had no chance whatsoever at winning it.
He then receives the legion d'honneur.
Go figure.
That said Domenech is not half the coach Aime was.

Exactly, I wouldnt be so pissed. Domenech is still looking for cohesion. And its his team anyways.
Govou knows all of this.. Hopefully he'll step it up. That what people do in the WC.
