World class is stretching it a bit? There's only been one world class player at Celtic - no, in fact, in Scotland - for the last five years or so, and we all know who that was.

Good at breaking up play and was part of an effective "unit", but time to look to the future. He was awfully slow. Build the midfield around Nakamura; surround him with pace and strength. Shield him, if you will. A forward-looking team rather than one full of defensive bruisers. Sure, it's risky - but only then will you see the best of an attacking midfielder.

It puzzles me how Celtic fans think Nakamura's the asian Pele but totally idolise players who are contrary to his style of play, such as Lennon: slow, fat, effective at what he does, but little more than that.

All that said, I think Zurawski is probably the most exciting player at Celtic, or will be in a couple of years' time. If he has a good World Cup, maybe even sooner.

In Scotland? Nuno Capucho?

I would venture a guess that it was his passion for the club that inspired these feelings amongst the suppport. And his generally "effective" play, as you mention.

Agreed - I hope this is the path at Celtic Park from here on.

Carl Muggleton!

He was class! Nearly as good as Egil Ostenstad. McLeish really did sign some donkeys!

To be honest, I would like to know who this world Class player is?

If its Henrik. Then yes, I would agree. He is World class.
but Rangers haven't had bad players in the past 5 years. The De Boers for example.

Of course its henke.

The de boers were never world class, and they certainly werent near their best when they came to glasgow either to be fair.

Eh? Do you not remember when R De Boer was at Ajax he was pretty much rated the best player in the world for a spell??

the words World class and lennon dont belong in the same paragraph, as you say good at what he did but slow and too defensive, the backpass against boavista all the evidence you need of that.

Although I would argue that Paul Lambert could have been regarded as a top end player at his peak, easily the best box to box midfielder in the UK behind keane and viera at the turn of the millenium and with a champions league winners medal to boot, if he'd stayed in germany instead of coming home due to his wifes homesickness he would be regarded as such im sure.

IMO a player thats world class, can do it season after season after season, be boer was great for ajax, had a good season or 2 at barca before they punted him and he was often just plain shite for yous.

Not world class by any stretch of the imagination IMO.

I think Tugay was better for rangers than deboer was.
