My strong dislike for St. Pauli (hate is such a horrible word ;)) makes me a very bad left-winger :(.

St Pauli need their own thread.

Since the coaching change this team is enfuego.

Surprised they fall off the first page and only have 38 posts.

By the way, should this post be moved to the regular forum?

So how are things along the Reeperbahn?

Nothing guaranteed yet, but St. Pauli does stand a very good chance of coming up. That's a surprise to me, after their very bad first half of the season. Nonetheless, i'd be happy to see them back in professional football, they'd definitely be one of my favourite teams in the 2. Liga.

The coaching change has been nothing short of miraculous.

St. Pauli is still on top after a 0:0 away draw in the top game in Osnabrück!

I hope that both teams will be promoted in the end.

Won't hold it against you but it looks like we might pass each other in the promotion-relegation switch...

Nice English page. Who are the best players? The weak links?

This is FC St. Pauli - the entire team is a weak link...

:(

Basic players:

Borger - originally back up keeper but became number when the number 1 got injured and the replacement for the number 1 got injured. Played out of his head most of the season.

Lechner - right back. Acquitted himself well over the season. Journeyman but in the plans for the team next year even if they get promoted.

Eger - center back. Also played well and another that the team wants to extend a contract to for next season.

Morena - center back and captain. Excellent player and inspires the team.

Rothenbach - left back. Played most games this season and should be in the picture for next season.

Joy - left back. Played quite a few games this season but likely to be released after the season. American.

Boll - defensive midfield. Ex-policeman. Quality player that plays a joker role.

Meggle - center midfielder. Brought in a couple years ago to be the attacking midfield saviour. Former Pauli player when they were in 1 and 2 Bundesliga. Left St. Pauli after they were relegated. Came back and now is playing more of a defensive role.

Takyi - center midfielder. Brought in last summer from HSV. Joker player that has come up big during the season. Scored with his right foot from a corner kick on the right side of the field - direct into the goal after some crazy spin.

Bruns - outside midfielder. Has played well.

Schultz - midfielder. Has played all over in midfield. Really unpredictable and coming on strong of late. Scores important goals.

Stendel - forward. Stepped up this spring after injuries in the fall. Scored some crucial goals.

Kuru - forward. Former Braunschweig striker that came in January. Has scored recently after a long unsuccessful run.

Sako - forward. Giant! at 2.02m he's as big as Jan Koller. Hasn't been as much of a replacement for "Air" Luz (who left in January) but has played ok. Team wants him back next season.

Who's the right mid? I got to see St Pauli practice and he looked a bit slow and below the level.

Depends on the game. Bruns, Braun, Schultz, Arifi, Meggle, Mazingu, and Boll have all been out there...

The team usually plays a 4-4-2 that really works more like a 4-1-3-2. Usually one defensive mide with an attacking mid and a withdrawn forward and creativity coming from the outside mids. Both Boll and Meggle can spring the offense from the center in the defensive role, Takyi often plays in the hole behind the striker. Stendel or Kuru or Braun play the withdrawn forward role.

I think it was Bruns. About 6'2", dark brown hair? He couldn't pass a note in class, and he looked very slow.

Nice result on Saturday. But now can St. Pauli win in East Germany for the first time in something like 6 years...
