We need Pablo out there destroying, slandering, taking names and dishing out numbers from the opening bell. No way can Reyna and maybe DMB and whoever do this without Pablo turning Czechs into Slavs. I want Mr. Nedved to become very familiar with Mr. Mastroeni, so much so that he'll start to speak Argentinian by the end of the game. He'll wish he was back in Turin taking on Vieira in practice and betting on the Italian Super Ball with Buffon. Too much pressure on Reyna against the #2 ranked team in the world without Pablo backing him up, particularly since Claudio is coming off not one, but two injuries, one a hammy strain I think which we all know can reemerge with one false, overextended, step. Plus, Pablo can deliver some desicive and or just simple passes to help the offense as well.
Give me Pablo or give me death!!!
If you have to have a 5-man midfield with Landycakes playing a little AM and a little withdrawn Striker, fine. Makes sense to me.
Other than that, he can play who he wants. As long as Conrad doesn't believe he's in Madrid again, I think we'll be fine. :)
(Of course, the possibility is it blows up in our face with a couple of quick and histrionic yellows a la the Pablo who plays for the Rapids. Let's hope he left that act back in Colorado, at least for a while.)

Nothing to add but 'right on'. I absolutely agree. He'll provide the platform for Reyna, JOB, Lanny, and whoever else is in mid.

No doubt aboutit (three words).
To add something to the thread, Mastroeni basically allows much flexibility everywhere else. We can play our preferred diamond midfield with Reyna at AM and Donovan up top with McBride or Donovan at AM and Reyna at RM, if need be.
If we go 4-5-1, we can slide Mastro to the left DM role to help buttess Convey/Lewis on that wing if we want to go that way. Put Reyna at right DM, O'Brien at one of the wing MFs and Donovan AM/withdrawn.
If you take Mastroeni out, you don't have the ballwinning necessary and you don't have the positional flexibility, as Reyna probably is next in line, and sticking Claudio there makes everything thinner up front and dicier in the back four.

I agree. And though I personally favor EJ starting, I'm starting to think more and more that we are going with the 4-5-1 somewhat along these lines:
Dolo-----Gooch------Pope------Lewis
---------Reyna------Pablo-----------
-DFB-----------------------JOB/Convey
---------------Donovan---------------
---------------McBride----------------

Hope you have a will written out :)

---------------EJ-------------------BMB---------------
That's my guess. we got three middies who cna play both O and D so I don't know that Mastro is exactly neccesary.

Pablo's gonna start and be a force that others want to avoid. Plus, he gotta show the EPL that he'll be in full force for Reading next season :)

A man with a Blind Willie quote in his sig is surely a man who knows what he's talking about.

I'm like you, I really like EJ starting, but I can see the benefits of a 4-5-1. Mine's a little different than your's however:
Dolo-----Gooch------Pope------Lewis
---------Pablo----------JOB-----------
-----Reyna------------------DMB/Convey

That's asking a lot of Pablo. John Holmes - on Balco flaxseed oil - could not add enough manhood to that midfield.

I also prefer the diamond MF with BMB and EJ up top. In that situation, I'm torn as to who the outside mids are. I think Pablo is DM and Donovan is AM. That means Reyna is probably RM and JOB/DMB/Convey is LM.

That's exactly my thought. I say it will be DMB at LM
