do you get topspin on your shot?

It means you're hitting it on the bottom a little bit. To keep it from doing this hit it in the middle of the ball. That'll keep it low and limit the spin.

there should be no spin unless its deliberate. sounds like you need to put more of your hips into the strike.

I di when i need to, e.g crosses, but for shots i tend not to

make sure u are not leaning back, this causes you to pull up causing backspin
