I've been waiting anxiously for Yanks Abroad or Sam's Army to name a place for the pre-game gathering in Gelsenkirchen. Since there are so few places to choose from, I assume they are having trouble getting a bar/tavern to agree to having hundreds of US fans take over their place. Since we are just days away, I would propose we pick a place for all US fans to show up at and see what happens. I've seen several people mention Brauhaus Hibernia www.brauhaus-hibernia.de . You can check it out at the European Beer Guide at http://www.xs4all.nl/~patto1ro/index.htm#germany .It is located at Bahnhofsvorplatz 2 which I assume is in the city center. They are open from 9am until Midnight on Mondays. Unless Yanks Abroad comes up with a place, I would propose that Brauhaus Hibernia becomes the unofficial pre game party for US fans.

looking through the multiple threads on this topic, i think brauhaus hibernia and the central cafe are the spots of general consensus already. however, if you are traveling by train to this game, it looks like you almost have no choice but to go by brauhaus hibernia. it (and central cafe) are pretty much right across the street from the gelsenkirchen train station. i imagine there will be a lot of stars and stripes in the area!
