Nasty Nestor Aparacio, the owner of WNST - 1570AM (an all sports station), writes on his website about his reflections on sports. This week in the MOON, he writes about the BHOYS in Red, white, and blue.. Great article and this guy is running a couple of world cup shows and will broadcast from Germany live!

Tune in to his World Cup show from 9-10am daily and 5-6pm - this guy is a normal sports fan who loves the US and World Cup soccer.

Fortunately, I can listen via the radio, but I tried the net connection and it isn't working - it says to e-mail him. Believe me, he wants us out in bigsoccer tuning it in, so I am sure he'd be getting those hamsters running back on the wheel.. ;)

Nasty Nestor is a solid guy (used to listen to him on Sporting News Radio several years ago) and I look forward to hearing what he has to say from the World Cup as it rolls on.

Nice article. The man is reaching out to the mainstream fan in a very appealing way - no outlandish promises, no we-will-overtake-your-beloved-sport posturing, but also very much respecting the beautiful game. Well done.

Their afternoon guy, Rob Long, was talking a little bit about it y'day, and admitted he didn't know much about the event, but was looking forward to seeing the games and the crowd.
I called him on the air and applauded his attitude. Writers and commentators can always go for the easy joke of ribbing soccer fans and the rest of the world, but local and national journalists who at least show interest are to be lauded.
