OK, people. This is in addition to the regular Sam's Army chants. If I start singing at the matches, I want the rest of you to join in. (I didn't include all verses. Hell, we can just sing the same verse over and over.)
- - -
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
- - -
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
- - -
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
- - -
Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony
Stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle, keep it up
Yankee Doodle dandy
Mind the music and the step
And with the girls be handy.

Dare I say, any AMERICAN should know these by heart? We should pass them out to the Germans.
Ok, so I'm not too familiar with that second verse of "This Land Is Your Land", but I'll just sing the same one over and over.:o
Sing loud and proud during the Star Spangled Banner, too!
What about this one?
My country,' tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!

All excellent suggestions...
A lot of us are always racking our minds trying to come up with new songs, but we have some songs that can raise hair on the arms. Singing "God Bless America" or "America" with 500 others just sounds... ...awesome
And if every American doesn't know the words to those songs, well then, go back to California or wherever your're from.

O-ver there, o-ver there, send the word, send the word, o-ver there,
That the Yanks are com-ing, the Yanks are com-ing,
The drums rum-tum-ming ev'-ry where
So pre-pare, say a prayer, send the word, send the word to be-ware
We'll be o-ver, we're com-ing o-ver,
And we won't come back 'til it's o-ver O-ver There!

In one of the classes I teach, we do a section on anarchism and marxism (don't ask, academic freedom no longer includes textbook selection). Check out these verses to "This Land is Your Land," which you will probably not hear during the seventh innning stretch:
In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me.
As I went walking, I saw a sign there;
And on the sign there, It said, 'NO TRESPASSING.'
But on the other side, It didn't say nothing.
That side was made for you and me.
In another version, the sign reads "Private Property."
This is as a good a time as any, but let's all sing out loud and strong on the "Star Spangled Banner." At the England game in Chicago, the opposition put us to shame by singing "God Save the Queen" at about twice the decibel level.

Yeah This Land.. was written by Woody Guthrie in response to God Bless America.

The problem with that one is that the real words go:
God save our gracious Queen,
God save our glorious Queen,
God save the Queen.
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen.
I'll root for England in this tournament at some point, but not yet.

Yeah you go ahead and do that.

I know. That's what makes the song even better. I like our version. Our lyrics have more "umph".
I'm pretty sure that's not the only one we stole. What's the origin of Yankee Doodle?

Here is an easy one...
I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy,
A Yankee Doodle, do or die;
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam's,
Born on the Fourth of July. U - S - A!
repeat.

There are some great bits here but alas I think a bit too much beer usually involved.
"You're a Grand Old Flag" - best parts
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave
I'm no cranky hanky panky,
I'm a dead square, honest Yankee,
And I'm mighty proud of that old flag
That flies for Uncle Sam.
Though I don't believe in raving
Ev'ry time I see it waving,
There's a chill runs up my back that makes me glad I'm what I am.
There's a feeling comes a-stealing,
And it sets my brain a-reeling,
When I'm listening to the music of a military band.
Any tune like "Yankee Doodle"
Simply sets me off my noodle,
It's that patriotic something that no one can understand

Also, as much as it might pain us, please be respectful to other countries national anthems. Don't make me get my belt out.

I've attached a Word file with the lyrics. It can be printed and cut in half along the line. Two copies for the price of one to share with a neighbor.
If I get time tomorrow, I might run and make a few hundred copies. I wonder if the Germans will frown upon my bringing all that paper into the stadium.

You mean by changing the words and making it about your own country?
I agree, if any yahoos mock the Star Spangled Banner, especially those with U.S. security guarantees, it's going to make me want to burn things. We shouldn't do it to them either.
