* Angola played with their bench players for the most part and was down one man for 60 minutes

you mean we have to watch the czech republic match to find out the result of the angola match?

******** I don't know if I can wait that long.at this rate i don't even care about finding out the results for the Czech game. this top-secret friendly sounds MUCH more intriguing.

Germany? How?

gave up a stupid free kick very early in the second half AFTER the Germans had looked very dangerous from their first half free kicks in similar areas...

So by your logic that means McBride is going to score a hat-trick against the Czechs because their central defenders have never played in a World Cup before and this will be McBride's third.

is that what i said? no its not

But yes, the Czechs central defenders are weaker and never played before, and Mcbride should have an advantage if we can get him the service. But i never said Gooch would give up all these goals or anything, and yes, i hope hes great.

But yes, he does have terrible touch (whoever said he doesnt hasnt watched him play) and has a lot to learn at this level. I truthfully dont know how he will play, hes played in 2 big games against Mexico, and one time was awful, one time great. The Czechs are a pretty good offensive team, and Gooch is clearly in our first 11, i just said i was worried, is that a problem?

or should i just shut up and claim hes gonna be the best athlete out there so people will be happy?

This bit from the MedioTiempo article made me feel a bit better:

Las "Palancas negras" perdieron su tercer juego consecutivo, después de caer ante Argentina 2-0 en Nápoles, Italia, contra Turquía por 3-2, en Holanda, y hoy contra la Selección de Estados Unidos por 1-0.

Argentina beat the "Black Impalas" (a car I used to drive, cos I'm the illest) by only 2-0, Turkey (a credible team) beat 'em by only a goal too. In light of these results, and the uncertainty that surrounds the situation, I don't think we should worry too much. After all, everyone was all like "if we only beat TnT at home 1-0, how are we ever going to beat Mexico in CBus only a few days later?" I think we all remember how that one turned out.

Drink the Kool-Aid, my Babies.

We're playing Ghana, not Guyana !

Bruce Arena lives a couple miles from me. I went over to his house and watched on a closed-circuit feed. We played a very defensive game and trief to counter. Keller was in goal, and the rest of the formation looked like:

Cherundolo - Pope - Onyewu - Conrad - Berhater - Bocanegra - Lewis
------------------------ Reyna - O'Brien
----------------------------- McBride

It was the classic 7-2-1. They never saw it coming. Czech Republic are doomed.

careful, you better let people know you are kidding. Some people may have a heart attack before the world cup.

This thread has me torn between hilarity and a stomach ulcer. Someone needs to hire a private eye in Hamburg to smuggle in some hidden cameras to these things.

...from my source deep inside the 'center circle' if you catch my drift...

Irony, cold, cruel, incredible irony! The US team played today with a smooth creativity, individual skill and flow never seen before. Backheels, somberos, step-overs, one following another, mesmerizing like a torrent of water cascading down a streambed of smooth stones. The whispering on both sidelines was unmistakable, as if they were witnessing the birth of El Nino, the US was playing with LATIN FLAIR! A sight only dreamt of prior, and unlikely to be witnessed again.

...and due to the media ban, Paul Gardner missed it.

im not much worried about this game and us winning it only 1-0. It seems to me that the US has the ability to raise their game when it counts, however they often it seems play down a level at times. Either way i highly doubt the fact that they only won 1-0 over angola will severly affect how they play on the twelfth.

whats fraudulent....personally i think gooch has talent and a future, but hes not good enough to play in our Group. I hope i get proved wrong, but hes just not seasoned enough, and we really have nobody else to turn to with Bocanegra being so sh1tty.

Dolo will start, Albright is not what we need back there

Luckily Gooch will only have to mark a 2nd tier league forward, so he'll be fine.

I thought it was obvious enough. The part about him living a couple miles from me really is true though.

Well, I just watched Studio 90 and I can tell you the big news . . .

Reyna did, in fact, play and actually started.... How did Jason Wolff look?

More from the Angolan coach:

"I was suprised that a native Hawaiin would have blond hair, plus I thought he was taller. That he played with a St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap on limited his effectiveness on high balls."

Sorry; couldn't resist jumping on the bandwagon.

Thanks for the link.

I will take nothing from this scrimmage and accept only one hard fact from all 5 games…….only 1 goal allowed, noted!

and that one was a gifted bonehead type play from a usually reliable vet. if it wasn't a friendly, Dolo doesn't make that mistake and we draw 0-0.

From Ole in Argentina:

Los dirigidos por Bruce Arena vencieron por 1-0 a Angola en un partido amistoso, disputado ayer a puertas cerradas en el cuartel general norteamericano de Norderstedt, cercano a la ciudad de Hamburgo. El tanto de la victoria lo anotó el segundo goleador histórico de la selección, Brian McBride. Eso fue todo lo que se pudo saber ya que el portavoz del equipo estadounidense, Jim Moorhouse, no quiso ofrecer más detalles al respecto.

The USA won and the US press voice Jim Moorhouse offered little more to the press just a result....

Argentina owned that game and was very unlucky not to have beaten them by a more convincing score.
