Which team is the only one to have won its last game at the World Cup Tournament and still finish runner-up?

Could the question have been, "Who's the only team to have not lost their last game and still finish runner up?" In that case it would be Italy in '94, as PK losses are officially counted as draws.

I've have said Sweden but they finished third.

The team that won the last game finished runner-up. Italy in 1994 did not win its last game. It was a draw. Sweden and Turkey are wrong too or it would have made every third place team the correct answer.


Did you misread the question? The 1950 World Cup Finals are the only possible answer becasue it was the only Finals without a Final match. Brazil lost its last match so it wont be possible. In a final match, the winner took home the WC trophy. It cannot be done.
