With the World Cup upon us, I have stocked up on VHS tapes to record the games. I have enough to record 30 of the 62 games. I could get more to record all the games, but would it be worth it? Sure there are some good games, but 5 years later I'm not sure I'd be too interested in watching a tape of Tunisia vs Saudi Arabia, for example. Will you be recording many of the games?

I'll probably record them all via DVR.
If there are any worth keeping, some good classic football, I'll put them on tape afterwards.
I have 100 hours of storage but some of the matches will be dumped after I've watched them once.

I will record all the matches... The USA matches, semis and the final, I will record at SP on S-VHS, the others on EP.. I will transfer them, except any that might be real dogs, to DVD later..

There's really no point recording with VHS any more if you're planning on keeping it. Either use a capture card, or a dvd recorder, or just download them off the net.

Actually there is less chance of having "data" problems in recording with VHS still.. Even my best friend who has every type of pro equipment at home (he's a TV and film editor for a living) records stuff at home he wants to be positive he has no problem with on tape first.. Things are getting better but DVRs are not perfect yet.. I'm sure many have had no problems with their DVRs but for the WC, I am taking no chance on even a second being goofed up..;)

I've recorded just about every match since Mexico86.
-- Missing two from 86 (Iraq -v- Paraguay and Belgium)
-- Also missing a few from 1990 but that was because not every match was shown here in the States.
-- I constantly travelled back and forth between Palo Alto and Pasadena attending 1994, yet only managed to miss recording 6 matches.
-- I have all of 1998 and 2002.

Just bought two new DVRs a couple of weeks ago and I've requested two weeks vacation starting next Friday. Yes, I love my World Cup football! :D
