Who are the players who were in a different country, than the one they are representing? Which nation has the most foreign born? Maybe T&T? Which nation produced the most 'traitors'?
USA - 1
Pablo Mastroeni - Argentina
MEXICO - 2
Zinha - Brazil
Guillermo Franco - Argentina

Also, for France guys who were born in places like Guadaloupe don't count as forign born, as Guadalupe = France.
It would be like saying Brian Ching is foreign born cause he is from Hawai'i.

Argentina:
Trezeguet -- France. Although born in France, he is Argentine so I don't know if he counts as a "traitor".
Franco -- Mexico
Mastroeni -- US
Pernia -- Spain
Camaronesi -- Italy
Others?

They were born outside of Croatian borders, but they can't be put in the same basket with all those Brazilians playing in other national teams, or Asamoah. These cases even deserve separate threads.

Only 3 foreign born, that's very surprising. My respect for T&T has now doubled. :)

I've written about this a hundred times here, so I really don't feel like doing it once more.
I'll put it short and simple:
Surnames like Šimunić, Kovač, Klasnić are Croatian.
Surnames like Dos Santos aren't Tunisian.
Smart will find this enough.
These AREN'T the reasons why they play for Croatia:
-they couldn't make the NT in the country they were born in
-Croatia is drowning in money and simply bought them off GERMANY and AUSTRALIA and offered them better conditions
This is the ONLY reason they play for Croatia:
Their ties with the country their parents were born in are still very strong, and they WANTED to play for Croatia
We have a Brazilian, Eduardo, who has a Croatian passport and is a candidate for the NT. But he's not going to the WC, and I'm glad. His example would be a Dos Santos, Asamoah example.

uh, maybe that they're Croatian?
and also, I don't think you can fault Pablo Mastroeni for being a "traitor", considering he immigrated here when he was 4 years old.

Mastroeni moved to the US when he was four years old. He knows no other home.

The title said foreign-born player in NTs. So I just put names of players according to their birth certicates. We should not get excited about naming certain players. We shopuld start another thread about the so-called traitors. I separated foreign players and immigrants in this catagory. Players liked Alex, Deco and Santos are foreign players. They would not be in that country if they are not soccer players. They went to that country because some clubs offered them a contract. Asamoach, Klose or Mastroeni are immigrants. They would be citizens of their NT countries even if they are bakers, doctors or bouncers in a night club. Then, we have a third catagory where they are of that nationality but born elsewhere such as the Kovac brothers.
BTW, three players from Ivory Coast were born in France.

Half that was pretty general. how many people in Australia have an "Australian" surname. I have a blatant German surname but im 100% Australian. btw, Didulicia was born in Australia, grew up in Australia and still calls Australia home. He joined Croatia because simply, he wouldn't get pick for Australia. But, yeah i agree. it's a sticky subject and im really not in the mood to have this discussion once again.
