If it's not green, then it's blue/yellow...

I would vote the other way, actually.

Finally gave in ... the sky and yellow appeal from the city flag was just too much. ;) That should be the primary scheme.
Maroon & sky works for the other, wherever it's worn.

If maroon is the primary color of one of the uniforms, it would likely be the home one. In general, MLS teams opt for a darker color for home jerseys and keep the lighter colors (i.e. white for most teams) for away jerseys. The home team makes the call as to what jersey that they want to wear and the away team has to wear something which does not conflict with it. Since just about every pro sports team moved away from wearing white jerseys at home as a marketing move to sell more jerseys (folks would rather buy a jersey with the team's distinctive color (i.e. Philly - Eagles:green, Flyers - orange (old school); MLS - DC United (black), EPL - Arsenal (Red), Man United (red), Chelsea (blue) - as opposed to their team's white jersey) . The color combo that seems to make the most sense for Philly based on the polls is:
Home - Maroon (primary color), sky blue (secondary color)
Away - Gold/Yellow (primary color), sky blue (secondary color) or visa-versa

Here is a cool jersey design from the Concepts thread:

One of the reasons that I like this design is because yellow is the dominant color, and this color would stand out from other designs for MLS teams. For example, Houston's jersey is very distinctively orange, and it would be hard to associate that color with any other team. I also, however, don't want any blue that is close to the Earthquakes' former jersey, out of respect for that team and their fans. As long as we have a different gradation of blue, then I'm for the maroon option, too.

Columbus Crew wear yellow.
You're completely right. That was brainfreeze on my part. I guess in thinking of MLS teams, it may be easy to forget the Crew at times.
Their away jersey are yellow, but a different gradation. Perhaps we can ask them to change it once we get into the league, of course. ;)

Columbus Crew wear yellow.
Banana yellow.
I do dig that Yellow and Sky blue uniform (since it resembles the flag) so that would be a good home uni. Then take the SB/Maroon color scheme and attach it to a split color design (like Blackburn) and we have the best uni combo in the league hands down. Two different styles with two different primary colors that are joined together with the sky blue.

Funny thing is, Crew says that its Gold not Yellow. However the "yellow" shown in this mock jersey looks "gold" to me.
Then there is the Gold of LA as well.

Banana yellow.
Provided it's a radioactive banana.
I think everyone has envisioned a paler shade of yellow for this team.

Agreed.
And if it's home team's choice, why not go sky/yellow at home and let the other teams wear their darks if they choose? Then the fans get a colorful game on the pitch. :) Some NFL teams do something similar.
With a maroon/sky change, it's hard to picture them clashing with many folks on the road. Even if they would somehow, they can use the primary anyway and fly the city colors elsewhere. To me, it's a win-win.

Maybe it's just me, but i think Newcastle away jerseys look great, I'm thinking about buying one even though I'm a Liverpool fan ( of course it would have Owen's name on the back :D )

I voted for Light Blue and Yellow,
the colors are also used on the Philadelphia flag:

I also like the concept shirt posted earlier,
it also alludes to the Philadelphia flag.

Meh. Sky blue is best of the options. Maroon is too reddish: way too much red in this league.
I'm just sorry it's been so long since I checked this thread: for me, it's got to be green all the way (with white and black). The Eagles have a bad ass color scheme that's not overdone in MLS. I like the instant recognizability that would go with forest green.

but see that's the exact reason to not do it. to have something that is not the same as the other local teams. it works in pittsburgh because all three teams have the same colors, and to a minor degree in washington because the nba and nhl were (at the time the uniforms came out) owned by the same person. but each team in philly has its own distinct colors, and so should the soccer team IMHO.

I voted Maroon and Sky, I love the West Ham jerseys, so that was my reasoning..
