Should WCQs have half slots?

Let's avoid the politics of it. Do you think it's a good idea?

I say no. If you qualify, you qualify, period. With two open slots, now is the perfect time for FIFA to put in a rule against 1/2 slots and not screw any confederation.

I happen to think 1/2 slots are NOT given out because the poobahs can't figure out whether to award a slot to Asia or Europe. They can figure out that the 14th best UEFA team is better than Asia's 5th best. And if they decide to go the other way? That's OK, too; Asia's 5th shouldn't have to prove anything else, once they've qualified 5th in Asia.

it's a good idea because as long as uefa's 14th team keeps beating asia's 5th, asia have no basis to whinge for an extra slot.

plus it's the only reasonable way to deal with australia without merging confederations.
