Shame on you, Rogers Sportsnet, for overpaying for the 2006 World Cup.

Because Rogers Sportsnet overpaid, Sportsnet cannot afford to spend money to licence what we Canadians have been used to: BBC and ITV World Cup telecasts.

Instead, Canada will be like all the 3rd World island nations in the Caribbean, as we will be stuck watching the international feed, with a single British commentator, just like viewers in places such as Trinidad and Jamaica.

That sucks. Unfortunate. Still, the international feed is not too bad. Last WC, only the CBC had the BBC/ITV feed. TSN had the international feed, and the commentary was decent. I'll miss Motty though. :-(

That sucks. Was looking forward to good commentary. Still I am sure it beats having to listen to Tommy Smith. We drove by ESPN in Bristol yesterday and my 14 year old who was born here shouted out the window "Get some decent commentators"

are we sure about this.... is this posted anywhere?... will we have the TWI crew doing the matches... that will still be a step up from the ESPN crew..

one of the true highlites of having canadien dbs was every 4 years you saw the BBC and ITV feeds..

I had the BBC feed during Euro 2004 with the Setanta PPV...I'd be happy not to have Motty, though Lawro was amusing. Plus, the studio commentary with Lineker was usually awful, with Schmeichel (hell of a goalkeeper, but added nothing) and Ian Wright.
