If I see it on TV, I watch it for a bit. Good violence is hard to turn away from ;)

Aussie Rules Football is cool stuff :)

Who do you follow in the AFL?

I used to follow Essendon back in the heydays of Peter Bewick, Paul Salmon and co. Then Prime Sports went south and with no digital cable, it's a little tough to follow.

No team in particular. I just like to watch the games.

When I first got into it (late 80s), it was very different. West Coast Eagles had just formed, there were no teams from Fremantle or Adelaide... but it was great fun to watch. Then it went away on cable, and I've had only the vaguest notion of who's done what since.

I still think they should hang nets from the goalposts, though. Everyone has to watch the dude in the lab coat and pith helmet to see if it went in or not.

That's funny because you have strangely linked Aussie Rules footy with Soccer.
I agree with you on the idea about hanging the nets from the goal posts.
They do that in the V.F.L.

Not meaning to be rude here TB, but the only Bewick I know of is Darren Bewick. Good on you for following Essendon back then.

Do you still like watching the Bombers on TV?

Mad passionate Collingwood supporter.

AFL is a great game and deserves more international recognition.

I remember when ESPN used to televise Aussie Rules back in the early '80s...I supported Hawthorn in those days...and loathed - with an El Tri level loathing - Carlton.

I also had a soft spot for St. Kilda, who as I recall, were really, really bad.

No you're probably right ... darn long-term memory.

Can't find them anywhere on the tube here. I don't have Fox Sports World, just the regional channel, and ESPN has apparently evolved past the point of showing the AFL (but not the World's Strongest Man ... interesting).

Yeah, I know! It's realy for the other Nations to develop. I saw some of the results in the games, and they make for depressing reading. Canada only managed 1 Goal and 1 Behind against the USA Revolution.
