America not only gets Flaco Tena, but they will also get Capitan Furia as his assitant:

Will the Tena brothers rinse out the nasty aftertaste of the incompetent LaPuente puppet regime or will leave no trail, like a dove through the skies.

got to say I'm a fan of alfredo tena and his style. It would be great if he does come in and instill some of his style with the new players comming in/up.

the incompetent Lapuente regime got America lets see...
2 League titles
3 League leaders
1 Campeon de Campeones
2 Copa Libertadores Participations (a semifinal appareance)
1 World Club Championship Participation
& the use of more youth players.
No disrespect to both Tenas, i respect them, but you can combine them both and they still are not as successful as Lapuente.

LaPuente was great at one point... but Mexican futbol has evolved and out grown him. Lately, he has been waaay out of touch with reality... the fans (who pay for his families meals) and competitive reality (can't win a championship if you don't make the liguilla).
Anyway he is done.... cooked past the point of dryness. He is the new Ojitos Meza..... maybe he will get a new coaching job after a 5 year hiatus.

Hold up...... Lapuente won as recently as 2002 as a head coach, ending America's 13 year drought. He also left a base of players. He did not develop all of them, but he revitalized some and polished others. He orchestrated America's unforgetful 2005 season, along with Mario Carrillo. They set a historical unbeaten streak. In 2002, America probably played the best soccer in Copa Libertadores of any Mexican club. They also managed to handle both tournaments and won the league title. They had the best record of ANY mexican club (to date) only losing one match in those 12 matches. They allowed some three goals and scored a but load of goals. Some say that if the Copa Libertadores would have been played and not postponed due to the WC, America would have won. I know that is all speculation, but there is some truth into it. America was not playing on all cylinders after the break.
My intention is not to convert this into a "bash" lavolpe thread, but he must be brought up. You have gone on and on about how dynamic Lavolpe is. You have painted him out to be some mastermind. That is hardly the case. If anything, Mexican soccer has outgrown him cause he still romanticized about 1978 (Mennotti) and "toque toque" "jugar los costados". Lavolpe's last title came in 1993. Lapuente has managed to win 3 league titles, 2 cup titles, and 2 copa de campeones titles since 1993.
Very hypocritical on your behalf to paint some (at your convenience) as dynamic masterminds, thinking he they see in the 4th dimension, and paint a "PROVEN" winner as a simpleton. Maybe he is a simpleton, i dont know. Maybe he doesnt get cuaght up with all the argie bullshit about zip codes (4-3-2-1, 3-6-1, 3-4-1-2, etc)
You seem alot like scrub, who thinks Lavolpe is the next best thing to slice bread. And when asked, what he has to compare with, he has nothing to compare with since he started watching mexican soccer the last 2-3 years. I dont mean it as an insult, but how long have you watched Mexican soccer and how long have you really paid attention? It seems you try a bit too hard to "impress" us with tactics and formations, which leads me to believe that you recently started watching soccer and maybe try to pass off what you are recently learning as general knowledge.
Dont get me wrong, i love to talk about tactics and all, but just the way you talk about it.
Anyway he is done.... cooked past the point of dryness. He is the new Ojitos Meza..... maybe he will get a new coaching job after a 5 year hiatus.
and somehow... a coach that has been a proven "loser" still keeps getting jobs.....

Don't hate the player, my dear RDL. Its not my fault you don't get tactics. BTW, I have been watching futbol avidly & really trying to understand the game since I was a fan of LaPuente's Necaxa with Ivo Basay, Alex Aguinaga, Garcia Aspe & Nacho Ambriz. Of course I had watched games prior to that, including every single match of Mexico 86 & Italia 90, but I was too young to understand the game then.
Since the early '90s, I have researched all I could about strategy, tactics & training techniques. I think I understand the game.
LaPuente has a history of good results & has his own thing, no doubt. But, as I have learned over time, he is a tactical simpleton. He plays with one style (although his America does play far more forward than his Necaxa or Puebla) and depends on his individualities. In comparison, a guy like Aguirre is light years far better than LaPuente... it takes a real coach to create a winning squad out of such limited players.
Also, this is the 2nd or 3rd you have asked about when I started watching futbol.... this is the last time I respond to you... so memorize it, just like you do with all your worthless stats.

Didn't that Puebla have the a lot of the players that became the Necaxa base? Players that were later undisputed starters on their National Teams? I could be wrong... I was pretty young back in the Puebla days.

I do understand tactics. But only a rookie will try to pass off his "knowledge" in hopes to impress. Take the Iran thread. I know tactics, but I wont argue or discuss which tactics we should USE considering that in 15+ years time, I must have watched Iran a total of 4-5 times. I dont claim to know everything.
cmon... arguing back and forth about tactics on a team that you have nevr really payed attention to and trying to convince people a certain "formation" is the way to go. Give it a rest.

Ever notice in martial arts (wu shu, wai lum, etc) how the movements are all done gracefully and it has such a fluidity. it is beautiful in theory, but what happens once applied. ALL THROWN OUT THE WINDOW.
I remember watching UFC when it fisrt started to get big and seeing the previews of each fighter prior to the fight. I even went to one. They came from many disciplines (Wu Shu, Wai Lum, Tae Kwon Do, etc). In their previews, their movements were all done gracefully and there was such a fluidity about it. That was in theory... but in practice... all the fine movement went out the door and just nothing but ghetto ass duking. Punches were thrown in windmill form. It looked like a b1tch fight.
I am not trying to compare fighting with football.. the analogy is that once the fight starts... anything goes... same in football... you want to talk about 4-4-2, 3-4-2-1, 3-3-1-1, etc... once it is all said and done... its 11 guys per team trying to gain an advantage over the other... thats its..The game changes, I dont deny that. And I also accept that there must be order in a game plane...bt you seem to fall for the bullshyt.

did you ever play? Did you ever see the difference between how you set a mark on a corner kick drawn up on the chalkboard and see how you really mark a guy that is kicking you, pushing, etc while attempting a corner?

Puebla? limited players?
Necaxa? you mean to tell me that Peleaz, Hernandez, Blanco, etc were all hot commodities when landed in Necaxa?

Chivas only had enough money to pay off the refs for the first game in the final against Pumas. Who can forget that infamous penalty called 1 meter outside of the box?

I play you like a violin... HAHAHAHAAHAHAH
so.. in your early 20s with such a hectic academic and work schedule... did you play in a sunday league where you had no practices during the week.
wow.. 2 goals and an assist. kind of reminds me of the bundy line "4 touchdowns, not in 1 season...in 1 game"
or the chant..."1,2,4,3, give the ball to al bundy!"
did they have a chant for you as well...
