Like many World Cup fans, I have been trying to find out what the World Cup coverage on FSC/FSWC and FSW Report is going to be like in June. With ESPN holding the US rights and Canadian rights holders being Rogers/TSN, I know we won't be seeing any games on the DAY OF but I was curious as to how they would fill the time.

A friend of mine close to the action here in Vancouver gave me some info today. Not sure how accurate it is but I trust him enough to post so....

-Michelle Lissel will be in Germany for the Finals covering the United States. If the US go out early, she will move to cover the England squad. She will file reports from Germany for the show.
-Michelle also just returned from Raleigh, NC after attending the US training session. Look for some feature material out of that in the coming weeks.
-Bobby McMahon will be in LA to help the coverage from the FSC studios with Max Bretos & Nick Webster.
-Jeremy, Carlos & Mitch will remain in Winnipeg to do the show nightly.

Do those three guys ever get to travel?? Nothing against Ms.Lissel as I know she is adored on these boards but it would be nice to see one of the guys on assignment! FSWR seems to be a sweet gig for the woman!!

Oh and look for a new set to be unveiled before the finals begin.

That's all I've heard. Again, how accurate it all is I don't know but my source is usually pretty bang on.

Hmmm...

Interesting to see that the "new set" for FSW Report will be unveiled.

Perhaps TeleLatino tried to lowball FOX Sports Int'l with a ridiculously low bid for the "FOX Soccer Channel Canada" project and FOX chose to stick with Canwest Global?

I'll have to do some checking.

Should be interesting to see what happens. FSWC got a boost out of Euro 2004, but couldn't find the money to capitalize on it. As for FSC, a Bretos/McMahon tandem sounds like it could get wild.

I seem to recall Jeremy saying here that Michelle has a Swiss background. Perhaps if she speaks a bit of German (don't know, just speculating) she would be the logical choice to go!

BINGO!

The surname "Lissel" is definitely German, which is one of the 3 official languages of Switzerland.

A group of dialects collectively known as "Swiss German" is spoken in the Northern and Central parts of Switzerland, around Zurich (a major financial center) and Basel.

"Swiss German" might or might not be close enough to the "Low German" being spoken around Munich, but it is definitely not anywhere close to the "High German" being spoken in Hamburg and being taught to international language students at universities, colleges, and high schools in North America.

And if England go out when we do or before she will get to cut her trip short.
