ITs frusterating to take 8 of your firends to a game to realize you raized the attendence from 9100 to 9108...

this team is really hurting the leauge right now, its not our faults, but the people around us.

maybe if the quakes had a free bumber sticker night (1,000-10,000) quakes bumber stickers driving around the bay is good advertisement, or some gosh darn newspaper/TV advertising maybe we could draw better.

Also, every time the team draws above 10k the lines to get tickets get rediculously long and once inside there are at least 100 guys in yellow jackets that do absolulty nothing (that should be selling tickets)

Just some random thoughts... but things need to change.

I still have about 80 somewhere. I don't think the people I gave them to ever put them on their cars. But, if they were handed out to everyone coming to a game, it might work.

I despise bumper stickers and would never put one on my car and I get repulsed when I see any bumper sticker on any car. The worst is when you see the "My kid is an honor student....blah blah blah" stuck to the bumper/impact device of a BMW or Mercedez....hell, i love my kids but not THAT much.

I despise bumper stickers too which is why I have the 'Quakes license frame on my car. Easy to remove if it needs to be. ;-)

I'd help out in SJ but I am many hours' drive away from any part of Cali and cannot afford the airfare as we're right in the middle of purchasing a new car.

I am helping in Columbus instead. I'll just have to worship Joe and Jimmy from way afar...;)

If I put a Quakes bumper sticker on my car I'd just have a lot of people asking who the they are... Hell, I'd put one on anyway!

Where on your pinto wagon would you put it......the rusty bumper or the simulated wood side panels? :D Blue does seem to go well with lime green. :D

We've got plenty of "gosh darn newspaper" advertising...there's an ad that runs every day prior to every home game (at least in the Merc...I don't know about the other local dailies).

But the thing is...like the old saying, you can lead a horse to water, but if you can make him float on his back you've got something.

There is no magic bullet that will make people show up. An extra TV ad or a bumper-sticker won't be the "attendance steroid" you think it is.

Patience while the attendance slowly builds, however, is the proper tonic.

I'm a firm believer in the theory that, you have to give a first time fan a good show to develop a returning fan. The problem is to get the first time fan to show up the "first time". Johnny Moore is working on this part of it now......give it a little more time. If you get them in and lose 0-1 or tie 0-0.....that's not good but if you give them a 2-1 come-from-behind victory which involves a Burns/Mulrooney brawl, you may have a fan for life.

And, who knows, we might be helping MLS usher in a new era of honest attendance counts!

8 people is a lot to bring to one game for most of us (Way to go!).

But look at it this way: what if the 9,000 that attended the Chi game each brought just 1 additional guest that night? That's 18,000 butts in the seats. What if only half of the 16,000 that showed up last Saturday brought a guest? That's a crowd of 24,000. All we need is more people to participate...

On any given evening, can't we each find 1 additional person to join our group?

I took 40 people from work for the Chi game and 12 people the game before...of the 40, 15 have already bought tix for the next game. :)

That's the challenge, but as SJFuture mentioned above. He brought 40 and 15 have already come back for more.

You need to impress upon people that it's more exciting than watching soccer on TV and you can a get a ticket for less than going to a movie.

This is my biggest obstacle. It's just me and my mom left here in the area. My mom is sooo not into sports and her health would not allow her to be out in the sun or to be sitting through a game. And the only friends who are even interested in soccer, I've already made addicts. Not sure what else to do.

I would have to convince people from this area(meaning Modesto) that the best thing they could possibly do with a Saturday night is to drive 2 hours through hellish traffic on 99 to 120 to 205 to 5 to 580 to 680 in order to see a sport they haven't really cared about and are convinced that it's not that cool, already.
