so basically we are looking for a Werder Win in Sofia, another Chelsea win and then what? can someone lay me out what has to happen for us to finish in second? i do see that we are tied with Barca now. its Chelsea 9pts Barca 4 pts Werder 4pts. so we pretty much need to beat Levski, Barca needs to lose to Chelsea, then we need to beat Chelsea....right?

right now, barca goal difference is +4, werder 0
if chelsea beat barca, and bremen beat sofia
barca's goal difference will close down, and bremen's will go up..which *may* be important later
chelsea 12
bremen 7
barca 4
sofia 0
let's assume barca will beat sofia..(if not then bremen are as good as through)
then if bremen draw with chelsea at home (a bare minimum)
chelsea 13
bremen 8
barca 7
sofia 4
now bremen need to only draw at the camp nou.
if bremen beat chelsea (which i think they have a good chance of doing in bremen), then even a loss to barca might still see them through, depending on the aforementioned goal difference.
basically it's all in their hands..they don't need to rely on other results if they get it right.

chelsea beating barca will make it much much easier though..or even chelsea drawing with barca

Yea, but you're already saying that Werder will win against Levski...based on today's performance, I wouldn't be too sure about it.

Barca lose points to Levski? Yeah, if they poison the whole Barca lineup.
Barca may have lost to Chelski, but they didn't play badly enough to even entertain the notion that they might lose points to Levski.
Yeah, nothing is certain in football, but if there's something that's effin' close to it, it's Barcelona beating Levski, no matter where they play.
Werder and Chelski would most likely beat them wherever they play too.
No problem with being hopeful, but let's keep it real.......

And they are assuming they can draw with Chelski at the Weserstadion.
That's a mighty strong assumption.

I have a feeling that Werder will beat Chelsea at the Weser..
After all they beat Juve 3-2 there and almost beat Barca.
Why not Chelsea?

Because Chelsea are better Juve and just as good as Barca, if not a bit better......

Agree but on a given day Werder can beat Chelsea, but yes Chelsea are better then last year's Juve and IMO the UEFA cup spot is where Werder will end up but hats off how they played so far in all three games

Bremen do need some kind of a miracle to go through. Chelsea is almost sure to top the table and relying on Barca to drop points is a little absurd. Although Barca's form hasn't been up to their standards so far and seeing as they are missing their most important player, it is a possibility albet it is a small one.
If Bremen go through at Barca's expense I'll become a Bremen fan for life. :D

all i'm saying is that everyone is worried that we will lose to levski... if we have the chance to lose to levski chelsea and barca can too...

We will beat Levski and Cheslea will beat Barca again i think. We can draw Chelsea, lets not forget how many REALLY close opportunities there were against chelsea. Dont worry we have more chance than some of you are giving credit.

If Bremen plays a very solid game, especially on defense they can beat Chelsea. I'm not saying it's a certainty, but Chelsea only beat Barça 1-0 in a game in which Barça was horrible, and on a golazo at that. Chelsea's goalkeeper was hardly challenged. If Klose plays as he is capable of in close, I can see Bremen scoring. But, the key is on defense. Drogba, Essien, Robben and Sheva must be contained. As bad as Barça played, they did contain these players, except for one moment. There just cannot be any lapses on defense.
Also, I don't see why Bremen can't go into Camp Nou and beat Barça as well (the game is at Camp Nou, correct?) Frank Rikjard is going to be burned because he continues to leave Thuram on the bench and uses guys like Van Bronkhurst and Oleguer. Also, he really has something against Saviola and continues to use Giuly who is rather mediocre in my opinion (and in Ronaldinho's as well, or so I heard on GolTV Spanish).
