I cant bealive this guy, hes a really good player, but this Joga Bonito crap is total garbage! all it has it tons of players juggling soccer balls.
Great work Nike, isnt soccer a team sport?
oh yea I saw a clip of Eric's comercial where he says play beutiful and it bad sportsmanship it includes player spitting on each other, and some tackling.
how about his karate? i think he should play the clip where he kicks a woman in the face. Wait? LOL watch the clip.
pretty funny

all this one the King's birthday no less.
About the campaign itself, it's retarded, supposed to appeal to close minded, easily impressed fanboys. Nike didn't put a lot of thought into it but I can see that it will make a lot of money.

He kicked a guy who was racially abusing him.
He kicked a guy who was racially abusing him.
The French are a race?
Anyway, that was hardly the only unsavoury incident in Cantona's career, great player though he was. I mean, throwing the ball in the ref's face ain't exactly "play beautiful".

Racist abuse is defined to include abuse based on race, colour, nationality or ethnic background.
His beautiful play far outweighs any negative things he has done. Besides, almost every creative player of his type is a flawed genius. It's what makes people love them even more. Try to make them 'normal' and you lose what makes them so good.

Never miss the big picture I can see.
As a mod, if you're going to make an appearance in a thread like this it should atleast be a worthwhile one.

Peter Beardsley never threw the ball at the ref or power ranger kicked a spectator, and he was twice the player Cantona was.

No its not.
My deepest apologies for typing racist, as opposed to racial. I really should be consistant, particularly as I specifically referred to the latter in my initial post. Again, apologies for the inconsistancy.

I'll quote post #3.
He kicked a guy who was racially abusing him.
As you can see, your opening post was inaccurate. I then unfortunately typed racist by mistake, which I again apologise for.

He was insulting him for being a foreigner. I'm not sure but I think the guy was an extremist. Anyway, it was a 'beautiful' kick and a well deserved one.
I'm not a great fan of the ad campaign either but I guess Cantona is there because he's known to be a lover of the game (more than anything else), he also has the image of the french rebel and misunderstood poet, artist and philosopher which he likes to play with. Voilą...
Here's a lil cartoon I made in one of my school note at the time. yeah, that was some event ! :D

Racial slurs are not the same as French slurs. Sorry. The English language is there for a reason. Calling someone a "frog" is not racist or racial.
None of which matters, regardless. Cantona should rightly be pilloried for kicking a fan in the stands.

Well thats the point isnt it?
Its not retarded, its just not your taste. Some people like to see exhibitions like that. So to abuse a community of footballers for liking skills such as juggling and the tricks and such, is pretty closed minded in its own. Football can actually be fun. Like Celito said, its all for fun.
Now before you continue, this isnt a personal attack.
