I heard about this yesterday but was too lazy to post this. I might not be able to make it to this one because I am hoping to go to the America vs Barcelona game. I think from San Fran to seattle it is like an 18 hour drive. Maybe ill go tho.

Not even close.
We recently beat the Mt. Vernon-area Hispanic All-Stars 8-0.

and we lost only 0-1 to Chivas USA a few weeks ago. ;)
Last year we lost 0-1 to Premiership Club Sunderland.
Last year we won the Second Division Championship in the USA (no promotion :()

How Did the Sounders Schedule Club America?
Answers by Bart Wiley, Asst. GM
1. How did this friendly come about? (Contacts, timeline, etc.)
The game came about due to contacts we have established over the last several years. One of those contacts got us in touch with a person working closely with Club America.
Adrian began speaking with this person 6-8 weeks ago and eventually an agreement was reached.
2. What plans do the Sounders have to advertise the match, specifically to the Hispanic community?
We have an advertising plan that will reach out to both the Hispanic community and the non-Hispanic community.
With specific regard to the Hispanic community -
- local Seattle radio ads
- local Seattle print ads
- eastern WA radio ads (Yakima, Tri-Cities, Wenatchee)
- eastern WA print ads (Yakima, Tri-Cities, Wenatchee)
- Galindo and Rivera on local Hispanic radio shows promoting the game, both in Seattle and eastern WA
- Spanish posters produced and distributed in the Seattle area
- tickets to the game made available in 12 Hispanic stores
3. What size crowd are you hoping for?
With the opening of the entire lower bowl we certainly hope to go north of the 8,500 that would fit in the Sounders normal configuration.
4. Why did CA agree to visit Seattle for this match?
From what we can determine, Club America has never been to the Pacific Northwest. They, much like Chelsea, Celtic, Sunderland or Cardiff City, are looking to increase their brand in cities where they may not have established a presence, or, simply wish to get away from their respective homelands and play a quality opponent. It certainly didn't hurt that we are coming off a Championship season.
5. Will it also be shown on COMCAST?
To be determined.
