FSC announcers said something about a pre-98 US-Mexico game on TV Friday night.
I looked at the schedule and it's billed as "The Rematch", but the broadcast window is only 90 minutes long.
I know most people will be watching the live game on ESPN2 (as will I), but what's up with the 90 minute broadcast?

"El Reto Final Nissan" took place last Sunday at the Home Depot Center and was televised live on FOX Sports en Espanol.
The 70-minute "legends rematch" (35 minutes for each half) was between US 1997 and Mexico 1997. Those two sides played two draws during World Cup Qualifying that year.
The "rematch" was the finale of a 8-part "reality" TV series.
FOX Soccer Channel is re-airing the FOX Sports en Espanol English-language audio track of the broadcast, cut down to fit in a 90-minute window (easy to do given the match only took 70 minutes).

Huh.
Could have sworn Mexico beat the US 7-0 at Azteca that year.

Nah, we stopped losing 7-0 to anyone back in the '80s.
We actually pulled out a 0-0 in WCQ at Azteca in '97. Pretty crazy game. One of our guys (maybe Agoos) got sent off early on, but we still managed to take the game to the Mexicans for a little while. I vaguely remember Wynalda (?) being really unlucky, hitting the inside of the post (but not scoring, obviously) with a shot in the first half. Then in the second half, we were hanging on for dear life, and we would have lost if not for Alexi Lalas' ass, which got in the way of a shot from about 12 yards out that was headed toward the unguarded US goal at some point late in the game.
Memories.

Yeah. I actually watched a bit of this exhibition on Sunday, but I couldn't get the SAP to work. No big loss.
