lol - Tonight's Game: USA vs Morocco. The scoreboard in the upper left of the screen? "MAR" vs "USA" lol

Last week's Champs League match: Barcelona vs Arsenal. The scoreboard in the upper left of the screen? "BCN" vs "ANL"

wth? I've noticed this at least 5 or so times this year. Anyone else notice this oddity or is it just me? "MAR" for Morocco? I don't mind "ANL" for the Arses though :)

Yes, ESPN are idiots. What could they possibly be thinking?

The official FIFA abbreviation for Morocco is MAR, which comes from the French name of the country "Maroc".

The current Executive Producer of soccer at ESPN (Tim Scanlan if I remember correctly) got it right.

(The EP who was in charge of soccer at ESPN in 1999-2002, Bill Graff, never got it right. Graff is now at Discovery Communications after spending some time at the NFL Network. Graff insisted on using "KOR" instead of "PRK" for North Korea.)
