I posted this in general thread about Up-date about czech national team.
But since this information is important, maybe it is better to post special thread about this.

SMICER - NEW INJURY??
Vladimir Smicer has been taken to hospital in Innsbruck, for a medical examination, after apparently aggravating the knee tendon injury he’s been struggling with since February. The Bordeaux midfielder was practicing shooting during a national team training session in Seefeld, Austria when he suffered the setback.

New Rangers signing Libor Sionko is on stand-by in case Smicer isn’t available for the World Cup finals.

Karel Bruckner reaction:
He seems to be a bit worried about this. Of course he has substitute: LIBOR SIONKO. However he said that SMICER was very important for the team.
Looks like Smicer might be not able to play - but this message is not sure yet. Maybe he will recover.

THE DECISION IF SMICER PLAY OR NOT WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE JUNE 11!

it has been reported in the czech press

The chance of Vladimir Smicer for the world cup does not look so good right now. He is also missing the training with the team now. I think Bruckner will have a bit problem here.

On a team as loaded as the Czechs, I would almost welcome Smicer in the lineup. I'm not sure if his injury, and subsequent absence, would have much of an impact on the team. He's not what he used to be (though his Champions' League final goal last year was incredible!).

this is good question...I agree with you....I was only wondering why BRUCKNER is so worried about him and why he said he was important for the czech team.

from my point view the key players are Rosicky-Koller and Nedved and they all are healthy....
