From Prague.tv:
Vladimir Smicer has been taken to hospital in Innsbruck, for a medical
examination, after apparently aggravating the knee tendon injury he's
been struggling with since February. The Bordeaux midfielder was
practicing shooting during a national team training session in Seefeld,
Austria when he suffered the setback. New Rangers signing Libor Sionko
is on stand-by in case Smicer isn't available for the World Cup finals.
Poor Vlad, I feel so sorry for him.:(

An update:
SMICER REMAINS OPTIMISTIC
Vladimir Smicer remains optimistic that he can get fit in time for the
World Cup, despite aggravating his knee injury on Tuesday. But the
Bordeaux midfielder admitted that at the time he felt his knee give out,
he was prepared for the worst.
"I said to myself, that's the end," the Bordeaux midfielder told
journalists yesterday. "All at once, I couldn't see a chance and I felt
like giving up. But today I woke up and the pain had practically stopped."
Smicer has also been told by Karel Bruckner that if he is dropped from
the squad, he would, as a consolation, still be able to accompany the
national team to Germany.
I so hope he get better and can play.

Smicer is out of the World Cup according to a reuters report. He has a leg injury (tendon) which has prevented him from training.

Libor Sionko, a midfielder from Rangers or Sparta player, Tomas Sivok could take Smicer's place. Smicer is a good player, but I don't think having Sionko as a replacement is a bad thing.

I read this morning on http://www.prague.tv/czech-football/ that Smicer was improving. If he has decided to drop out, then I am sorry for him. On the other hand, I read that Sionko picked up a toe injury.
