Just trying to start people thinking
Just trying to start people thinking
Just trying to start people thinking
Why is your team's 'keeper winking?
You're whole backline is stinking
Just look at our scoreboard blinking
Just trying to start people thinking

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

that must be a fan-favorite haha

If I had the wings of an Eagle
And I had the @$$ of a crow
I'd fly it on up to North Jersey
And $hiT on those Red Bulls Below

$hit on, $hit on, $hit on
Those Red Bulls belowwOWWW...

Maybe it's too long but I thought a song based on the Battle Hymn of the Republic would be good if the name is Philadelphia Athletic.

Rework the first verse into a team specific song then the chorus is simply Philadelphia Athletic rather than Glory Glory Hajelulah. And there needs to be a witty final line rather than the bit about truth marching on, obviously. C'mon creative writers, what can you do with that?

celtic and liverpool both sing that i believe ... man hearing all those people singing in unison gives me the chills. then again, i think we'd need to have a team around for close to 120 years in order for our fanbase to be that solid and unified.

Well, we do have a baseball team in town that has been around that long. And I think we sound pretty unified and vocal when we boo our shabby players. :)

From Southeast Pennsylvania and the lower 5 counties, from Northern Delaware to South Jersey
We come to cheer our boys on to victory, the Blues go marching on
Glory Glory to Athletic, Philadelphia Athletic
Glory Glory to Athletic, the Blues go marching on

I've been working with well known hymns to try to create decent short memorable songs....those and children's songs seem to make the least complicated, most memorable songs.

Current songs used at DC

Pop Goes The World - O, United, United, United, Vamos United
Karma Chameleon - Dale, Dale, Dale, Dale, Dale, Dale O, Dale O O O
My Bonnie Lie Over The Ocean - If I had the Wings of an Eagle...
Korean Football (O Pilsung Corea) - O United
Jesus Loves The Little Children - We're All Part of Nowak's Army

yah, Wikipedia listed these clubs as singing the song...

Scotland: Celtic F.C.
Netherlands: Feyenoord Rotterdam, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Twente.
Germany: TSV Alemannia Aachen, FC St. Pauli.
Japan: F.C. Tokyo.
Australia: St. Joseph's College, Hunters Hill.

its so official with Liverpool that the words "You'll Never Walk Alone" appear on the crest

almost sounds like it belongs to the tune of Halls of Montezuma ...

You just gave me another good song idea - The Cassions Go Rolling Along

Over here, over there, over the river Delaware, our Athletic goes rolling along
Hit em low, hit em high, hit em right between the eyes, our Athletic goes rolling along
And it's 1 - 2 - 3, we're first place in the league
Philadelphia Athletic is f - ing strong
And wheree'er we go
People always know
that Athletic goes rolling along

And then at the end of that everyone spells out the name of the team at the top of their lungs. ;)

to the tune of The Great Amen (Maryland fans used to sing it after wins when Lefty was their coach)

Replace Amen with Athletic and Hallelujah with Philadelphia
